My Area 51 theory was much more exciting! Well clearly the dry eyes and bleeding nasal passages were caused by alien abductions. My post was in code so they didn't suspect that I was on to them. Heard anything from the mother ship during this time cycle? When is our pick up from this planet. No intelligent life forms here,.

Tommy - Here are 2 cabs cut from the same material. I've found various pieces of that pattern on several trips to Holt. Lynn

It shares characteristics with Bloody Basin, Maury Moss, & even some stuff from Cadys/Lavic area. There are so many different patterns to be found here. There's even a green moss that looks like the stuff from India. Pipeline Canyon is the same as Holt Canyon. Lynn

Looks like you all had a great time, wish I had been able to come with you but unfortunately mom's health issues take precedence over rockhounding. Thanks for posting the pictures and the videos.

Arrrggg...!! "human caused" frustrating "Human Caused" is kind of a catch-all phrase used by the Forest Service. While it can denote an arson fire (one that is willfully and maliciously set), it can also be something as innocent as parking a vehicle with a hot catalytic converter on dry grass. Use of campfires, shooting, weed abatement (yep), discarded heat sources are just a few more examples. In my experience with some USFS Folks, the term is used when natural causes have been eliminated (lightning), there have been signs of human activity in the area, but an exact cause cannot be identified. Pretty much the rationale is that if the fire wasn't caused by mother nature, all that is left is a human. Oh...just read the article. In this case the cause is known - controlled burn. Dave

That's my recollection as well. If they find signs of deliberate setting (which can take months), they'll use "arson" as the cause - recall way too many of those cases in my area, and only a few get caught.

If they find signs of deliberate setting (which can take months), they'll use "arson" as the cause - recall way too many of those cases in my area, and only a few get caught. The only thing that may delay the pronouncement of a fire being intentionally set is the process for ruling something out like electrical wires (power lines). Perhaps some testing takes place to rule that out as a cause. If no testing is taking place, I'll politely disagree that it takes months to declare a fire being the result of arson. Of course, we're speaking in generalities, as the cause of this particular fire is known. Dave
