I'm thinking the fears and scares are being oversold. Time will tell.
Most visitors will only be there an hour or three.

I think traffic may be the real issue for a lot of people. I plan on getting to the lake early and just kicking back for the day.

I am heading into Nebraska to view it with my mom and dad, sister and brother in law. I should be able to hit the total band in a couple of hours even if the traffic is nuts. There are lots of dirt roads to choose from if the highways are a mess. If we are early enough I might check some river bed gravels.

fantastic5. Years ago I took my fantastic four out of grade school for the day, so we could see the movie Superman. Thought if we waited till Saturday, we wouldn't have a chance. I figured we would have to get in line early just to get seats inside the theater. I loved the Superman movies--- fun stuff. We were about the first in line. About ten viewers in the entire theater!!! Kids and I didn't care. Enjoyed the movie and ate all the candy I had in my big purse. They are now all in late 40s, and still remember the day fondly. Me, too.

Thought about camping at Hampton Buttes area... yeah, we had planned on Eastern Or untill recently. Doesn't help that there are so many fires and it seems like half the national forests/roads are closed... Mt Jefferson, Three sisters, hwy 242, North Umpqua, hwy 138, Crater lake, Fall creek etc... Smoke is pretty bad. Need some rain! Lets hope it doesn't get worse over the weekend. Getting >30,000 folks on the few roads out of the Ochoco's would be a problem.

Good golly Tommy. That much traffic already. I hope I haven't underestimated my ability to get under the midline Monday morning.

At ground zero along the Pacific shore, all I need to do is stick my head out of the back door. Tourist Hell is bad enough without the Eclipse Apocalypse. I'll be glad when it's over. Be safe out there. Hope you don't get fogged out. We fly in <24 hours Hoping napoleonrags can meet up with us.

I would like to hound on that day,but we live on the main road here and it will be jammed for two days!!!!! I just might go hounding in my storage shop and find the goodies I forgot about...LOL I have no interest in this eclipse at all, seen one in 1979,it was a thriller for about 3 minutes, than it was back to work..LOL

When we got up by the area we were eclipse watching the local river was at flood stage. No chance of sandbar searching.
