I missed out on pink tee shirts but served at a time you could not wear a uniform to town (except near the base) and met with hostility if anyone suspected you were in the military. I was proud to serve in air rescue anyway. As well you should! Well done

I was proud to serve in air rescue anyway. hahaha I thought you said you did some hydraulic work which in turn causes the pink T-shirts but mostly they were pink and white depending on where the leaking oil hit you. 3000 psi can cover a pretty large area when it breaks loose and a small leak spraying can cut off fingers. Dual action cylinders? Hmmmmm.... A dual action cylinder can push either way with pressure. The control valve or lever has to allow the fluid on one end of the cylinder to bleed off at the same time it is directing pressure to the opposite end of the cylinder. A single acting cylinder is returned to the starting point with springs, weights, a hand. or gravity. Jim

Then all I need is a way to turn the crossfeed 5 times and start moving forward again. Automatic slabber.

Pneumatics has this. I didn't know hydraulics had this too.

Noooo problem. get a low speed hydraulic motor and a counter that will let it make five revolutions and reset. You will also need some limit switches. One would mount at the end of the carriage stroke to reverse the oil to the cylinder and send the carriage back to start. One mounted at the start so when the carriage returns and hits it oil would flow to the cross feed motor and spin it five times. At the end of the five revolutions a switch or relay would send the carriage on it's way again. If you really wanted to get radical you could spin your blade with hydraulics too. You could probably pick up parts second hand but even then don't forget your check book. Jim

Being that the feed would be dictated by pressure instead of a fixed speed makes a fluid system ideal. That way the blade would slow down with wider width of cut. Move with a faster rate with small width cut. Easier on the diamonds. Fast feed for 2 inch rock, slow feed for 6 inch rock without changing pulleys. Saw can feed 3 times faster for 2 inch rock than a 6 inch rock. Saw senses variable width cut via pressure. Perfecto.

Yes, set the regulator at the push pressure that won't damage the blade and forget it. As the diamonds make the cut, the ram move the stone. Marble cuts in minutes. Agates of the same size in tens of minutes. In the saw what changes is rock hardness and size. But it still only pushes as hard as I want. When cut is complete, the ram then freely pushes out to the cutoff in its current configuration.

Cadillac arrangement. Infinity variable feed rate.
infinity variable chain drive that has no teeth, relies on friction of wrap(PIV CVT)

I missed this post. ExWifey linked me last week. Don't know the jackass. He has a state permit and exceeds it's limitations. Who is that effing stopped? Love the buckets... effer had gila monsters. I guess hydraulics is hydraulics, but that one looks home built. Pvc pipe cover for the ram. Doesn't show the hydraulic pump. I like the swamp cooler pump to wet the blade for the cut. But that just means more mucking. Wouldn't pay $4k for sure!
