Very handsome. The rock I mean. Gonna be a big honkin' sphere!!
Why didn't you just use your core drill and save all that cutting? Too big? Do you have one of those index gizmos to cut all the angles? I wanna get one of them.
Looking forward to the progress reports.

I slabbed the hunk to cube shape and this avoids waste. Re: index gizmo No. I find all the extra cuts required by those too time consuming. 10-15 minutes at the supergrinder or a dozen cuts in the saw. Progress reports to follow... Will finish a 5" bloodstone first, but no WIP for that one.

Having lived in Texas for many years, I get it. They also say Texas is the only state that dog is a 3 syllable word....daw-wuh-guh. While living in Galveston, we had a daw-wuh-guh named Dammit. My step-father got immense pleasure from sending myself and siblings searching for the dog. He enjoyed the neighbors reaction to several adolescent children yelling "Dammit, come here Dammit" Jeff A

That's pretty big. How big will the finished sphere be? (Or, did you already say?- I was distracted by your gun. See, no joke about that shiny dome.)

Maintaining a properly shiny chrome some like that takes commitment. Financial and time. These things and the blades don't come cheap And a properly smooth cranium must takes a bit of time maintaining it. And then there is the after shave. jeannie requires a nice smelling poopoo juice after for her pleasure. Sabre52 you can probably grow a better beard. jamesp that dome looks pretty good, thanks!

Have you ever made a sphere out of a hollow geode ? Yes. I have one really sweet example full of black smoky quartz that people drool over when they see it. If I ever get my studio set up I'll image it.
