Howdy folks, I'm very pleased to have found the site and have benefited already from the homepage identification of the prairie agate. Thank you for that. I live in Colorado and work in the Williston area. My boss found a shaped piece of chert in a farmers field and one thing led to another. Now I'm sitting on a bigger pile of rocks than I can fly home with. The dendritic agates have been my main target while out doing various field inspections. Seems to be quite a bit of them in the right areas. Last week a dump truck pulled up at a job site and dropped a load of 6" minus road base. I found my way to the bottom of it. Let me know if there are any support groups out there that can help me keep my eyes on the horizon. I'm not sure if I've seen it in awhile.
Big kudos to the site owner/operator. I have a fishing forum back home that I own and operate. This site seems to be much more user friendly.

Welcome to the forum and our dysfunctional family !! Now get your butt back home to Colorado. Hard to see any horizon when you're digging in 10 yards of cobble for goodies. Oil field trash? Rockin the Bakken takes on new meaning for you. Don't throw away any rock. Good trading and sucking up material.. grin.. Cliff- Montrose

Worked the gas fields in the Piceance basin for 6 years and I'm going on 3 up here Rockin the Bakken. Looking forward to things picking up back home. Not excited about digging through crusty gray shale though. I'm back and forth every week on a flight so I can pack home about 50 pounds of rock each trip. This one has been the best for finding agate with that dump truck load and a few riverside pit stops. I'll let you know if I get in a bind with these rocks and need to give them to someone. Noah- Grand Junction Send your self flat rate boxes and forget about the plane. Check out the gravel pits and the parking lots landscapes. Many a good rock has been found at McDonalds. And don't go out 2 road by Fruita and look for artifacts. Against the law.... Landscape rock supply places etc. Worked in Rifle, Ely, Nevada, front range, and in Utah for Cardinal, Jacobs, Monument well service, and Veco. Tongs, floor, derrick and ran rig 4 for MWS as the driller. I built and operated Mt Garfield Greenhouse and Nursery at 3162 F road in Junction before I sold it and moved away from the heat and traffic. Be careful out there. Don't lose a finger, Might be your driving finger.. Cliff

[/quote] may have met you at a super bowl party about 5-6 years at the Brennan families place. I'll check out the flat rate of boxes. Seems like every time I ship something it's a ridiculous price. I'm premier platinum status with United so I can burden them with some bags at no cost to me. I'll be sure to not go up 2 road rabbit hunting this fall. I don't want to stumble upon any artifacts

I haven't had the fortune of working on a rig. Shortly after starting I wanted to get on one and work toward consulting. I spent quite a bit of time working around workover and completions but have spent most of my time operating plants, pumping wells, and doing midstream work. Currently I have to walk around inspecting all of these locations and have good reason to walk the pipeline right of ways looking for leaks. I checked some parking lots recently and stumbled upon some fist size chunks of chert. I tossed a piece in my agate box and it threw a nice spark. Sort of surprised me.
Howdy Wigglinrocks that's a great name, I'll have to read back through some threads and see who's who on here. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Rich, I'd think you should know by now to get all your contest details worked out before you say anything! Now you've invited the hoards to start firing off a million questions at you!
So, flesh it out for the newbies, would ya? Jean
