Our bugs are bigger than your bugs. This can feed a whole family. Jim  Good golly, one that big would freak me out! I don't even like the four inch standard issue size! Now that one would be extremely crunchy! wampidytoo, do you have any recipes for cooking those? Do you put some rub on them, and cook them slow on a spit over a BBQ?  |

The big moths are great but the little plain ones that leave junk on your fingers are yucky. I got one in my mouth from a soda can and I think I gagged for days and now a year later I do not like y'all reminding me of it. Damn, I was going to quit joking because someone took me literally a while back but I can not stop. Woe is me, guess I will have to start putting (jk) in my posts. I like butterflies. I don't like moths. I don't know why. I thought size might be the answer, but I think a big butterfly would be fine. Anyone else feel the same? I don't mind a butterfly on me. I love to look at huge moths, but I don't want one on me. Kinda creepy crawly. My favorite moths are the hummingbird moths (sphinx moth). I had some moonvines crawling up the front porch. They would come in at dusk for the huge white flowers. They looked and sounded just like hummingbirds and about as big. I could watch them for hours. One dusk I went over to the nursery to turn the water off and there was like 100 sphinx moths feeding on the yellow pink and orange Longwood aquatic cannas. First thing I noticed was an insane high pitch buzzing sound from 50 feet away. Walked to the sound and was mesmerized by those fat moths feeding at hummingbird speed. Maybe one week out of the year in late August was their visit time. Amazing to watch. Magnificent athleticism. |

"The blunt end is intriguing." The south end of a north bound moth(mule). Sure looks like a fall colored beech or oak leaf is wrapped around the walnut moth. Or, could it be a walnut leaf ? CELEBRATE MOTH MONTH !!! It's larvae feeds on hickory or pecan tree leaves. Lots of hickory close by. May be mimicking a hickory leaf. "Blunt" is a word used to describe a very popular item in my (drug infested) neighborhood. Most make them using the hollowed out carcass of Swisher Sweets. (Who do they think they are fooling?) The evidence is all the discarded wrappers in the gutter and streets. The larvae (caterpillars) can be so numerous they can about strip all the leaves off a tree. The morphology and patterning of the adults (camo) provides some protection from predators. Wondering if they blend into the tree bark, or mimic leaves? Which do you think, James? It's been awhile since I have seen those types of trees. They only get a week, not a whole month. Get it straight, James, lol. James will be celebrating National Moth week well into August! Never thought about the use of blunt in that way. Yes, joints/blunts, same thing. Don't suggest boggarting Mr Walnut moth, may get a mouth full of yellow/green gug buts. Not sure why Mr. Walnut moth is wrapped in a dead leaf if he is out and about in July. All is green now ! Brown on green, not doing so well in the camo dept. Maybe hickory leaves have brown spots at this time of year. If not, an enigma. |

Million ant eggs and ants in one block of wood . Two of those big white grubs also , fed those to the birds . |
