I haven't cut any cabs for two years. I've cut thousands. I'm not giving up. I've been dealing with some health issues and I'm hoping to resume in a few months. I have a lot of slabs worth cabbing but am trying to figure out what to do with more cabs. Ebay doesn't seem like a good place to sell and I have no experience with Etsy. The slab selection on Ebay isn't what it was. I've offered slabs here and will probably offer some more again. Cabbing has always been creative for me, selling is just work. I got the bug today and bought a couple pieces of Morrisonite at the antisniper sale.
I could use some advice other than quit complaining.

Could you connect with local metalsmiths or wire wrappers?
Good luck!

I have 50 8x12 ryker boxes of cabs (not all full) of cabs. All kinds of boxes of slabs. First step will be to sort then sell off what I don't want to keep. I don't want to keep more than 1/2 my cabs. I would make sense to get something for them even though the material cost more than what I would get for them. As Pat suggested, wire wrappers might be interested in bulk lots. At least I'd have some money to put back into material and equipment. From what I've seen, slabs are more sellable than cabs. I'll photograph and offer some here. Very desirable material, but when I have cut 10 cabs from the same material, why cut an eleventh. Some of my best material would lose value when I cabbed it.

I started sorting cabs, mainly to put like cabs in the same box. I have two for Morrisonite, two for Tahoma, etc. These are some that I like where I don't have enough for one box. I have 63 Ryker boxes that are partially filled and some stuffed.

Oops, the Photobucket bug strikes again. Another thought is to connect with local woodworkers and any craftspeople. Mayb e attend a craft show if able and talk with any vendors who utilize rocks.

I think if you could spend time photographing and listing each one, you will get more than the slab cost for each of them.

These are favorites I'm keeping for my collection. This is from a presort of what I would bulk sell; 25-50 cabs. I have over 1000 like these:

Hope you get to feeling better and your muse returns. You do beautiful work.

This has been a bad year health wise. I got a staph infection in my spine and had two hospital stays including back surgery. I have another unrelated surgery in the middle of September and kind of treading water until after then.
My plan is to photograph the cabs I don't need and allow u pick purchases by box, column and row. The cabs will be inexpensive and I don't want to deal with them cab by cab. The work goes back 15 years. I've improved my skill over time, but the most recent cabs are in the C+ to B+ range. I am not a skilled craftsman, but I do have a good eye. Very few have polished backs and most have a girdle. I thought the worst of the lot could be used for wire wrapping practice for a class.

stardiamond, I don't make cabs nor do I have any use for them, but I just wanted to pop into you thread and say that you do really nice work. I enjoyed seeing your cabs, especially those beauties in the first photo. All the best to you with your health issues.

I have a lot of cabs but am always on the lookout for more. I suppose it's an addiction just like the rocks. I hope you post where you will be selling them or if you want to pm me that would be fine. I don't have a lot of extra cash but for good cabs I'm sure I could dig up some to pay you. No, it's not in a can out in the yard...lol.
