Just a few pics from my resent Rock trip. After my visit with jamesp I spent the night a little piece up the road to be able to get sleep and hound before heading on to WH. The pictures are of the quarry, things collected AND the new bed I had to clean out in my woods for their new home ( thanks fantastic5 for that idea!). Patty's Construction Quarry , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , Doesn't this one resemble Picasso Marble? , These beauties I hounded at Ann's house. Thank You Ann! These are from Jim's house. Thank You Jim!! ,

Nice boots! *swoon* Mickey! Justa FYI ... them thar rocks will slowly sink into the ground given time and some rain. Bugs will enjoy living under them and eventually, the rocks will be buried. You may want to put some kinda barrier twixt the rocks & dirt, like a landscape fabric or layer of crushed shell. just sayin'

Nice collection. Looks like it was a lot of fun. It was James. I reached the quarry right before daylight. I collected from 6:00 to 12:30. I was the only person there. To bad my daddy never taught me how to work the front end loader cause I would have used theirs to load that huge bolder Agate. BTW you handed me a piece of pretty solid turquoise up on that mountain when we went. It has matrix on the top and bottom the turquoise is about a 1.5ish seam I'm thinking BUT I don't want to saw it and cut any off. Do you think I should grind it off to see just how thick it really is?

By the way I need to get your email address sometime so I can send you pics from the trip.

Your welcome melhill1659, I really enjoyed our visit. My in the woods stash of rocks are up on plastic pallets to keep from sinking.

I use old sheets of galvanized corrugated tin to place my rocks on. Nothing ever grows through it.

Wow, Summervilles are so rare out west that I never even saw any when I was living in California. Got a nice one in trade from a buddy and that's the only one I'd even seen out there. Very cool to see how they occur in the wild. Couple questions. Is the cool eye agate looking nodule on the right of the pic beneath the "Hottie in the boots" pic a Summerville. If so, that's a nice one! Also further down in the pics there is a weird coral looking "v" shaped nodule that shows purple on the upper left here it is chipped. Whatssat one? That looks very cool! Great field trip report!.....Mel

captbob, gotta respect a woman digging in the dirt wearing rubber boots! @shotgunner you know you can't resist jeannie in rubber boots! Mark K... omg'sh did you see all that poison ivy??!!! I'm highly allergic and so is my husband so I put on long sleeve, pants and gloves and went to work cleaning a lot of it out! I showered immediately and wiped down with diluted bleach water. I have sprayed it twice and heavy rains after 😂😂 hoping to get a brake in the rain so I can spray again and put down the weed barrier. Now I have a new rock garden!

@shotgunner you know you can't resist jeannie in rubber boots! Indeed that is true. You in rubber boots is also irresistible. I've met your hubby. I'm sure he isn't offended by this. Lastly irresistible is teasing captbob about his occasional swoons..... I hope he knows it was pure tease. Nothing more.

Thank You Capt'n that's great advice. I'm about to hit Walmart an I'll get some weed barrier! Much easier to put it down now than having to dig up all the rocks and do it later!

melhill1659 great trip report & finds! Did you have to ask someone for permission to access that quarry? Love that 5 gallon bucket dolly with the big off road wheels, never seen one. fantastic5 did you find the fossils in TN? Please say yes....

fantastic5 did you find the fossils in TN? Please say yes.... I would love to make you happy as say yes, but those came from Wamsutter, Wy from a trip 4 or 5 years ago. I have found some decent (relative word considering this is Tennessee) crinoids around the Rock Island State Park area. Haven't tried cutting that yet, but a little bit of it seems relatively solid.
