Looks like Malagasy Ocean Jasper to me. Low grade but colors are right.

Looks like Malagasy Ocean Jasper to me. Low grade but colors are right. Hmmm... I hadn't considered that. The streak of quartz running through it is *very* typical of a California material - have not seen that in OPJ but that doesn't mean it isn't.

Tommy have you ever seen that poppy from Napa? ETA I guess so since the only image online is in your flicker labeled pope creek. Colors similar including red that I wouldn't expect in OPJ

I've been permanently locked out of it for two years. You're right - colors are similar - I remember it having a brown base matrix though.

Several areas in California north of the SF Bay area have the green poppy jasper types. I've seen similar material from Pope Valley and one fellow at the state show years ago had an entire showcase full of yellow and green poppy jasper that I seem to remember, was from Lake County, CA ( no further info to be had on the location so I suspect it was from private property in Pope Valley) Further north, Snow Mountain and Stony creek have similar material, especially Stony creek in Glenn County....Mel

By golly, that IS the same rock - she had told me she bought it at 16 lbs and has cut slabs off it and is selling them as "Stony Creek Brecciated" on Facebook. Honest mistake I'm certain, and it appears the original Ebay description "Stony Creek orbicular" was highly likely to be the accurate ID.

Henry, it's craft brews for me. No spoiled grapes for me. Just spoiled grains.

Not familiar with that one. I'm a fan sweeter beers. Amber's and german styles like dunkelweissen. Less than 20ibu and I'm having a taste.

oh... nooo... thread ... hijacked ... about ... BEEER ... can't resist...
My current favorite is from the brewer credited as one of the founders of the craft beer movement. Dogfish head 60 minute IPA. If I need a bigger kick in the hops the 90 minute is also wonderful. My favorite last week was a local Concord CA brewer Black Diamond - their 9.0apv Rampage is the best IPA I've ever tried.
We just had a new Total Wine store open a mile away and I'm feeling like a kid in a candy store with the selection.

Love the colors in that. The Jasper. Although many craft beers are very colorful as well.
