Yup, it appears there's a whole different level that most of us duffers never knew existed. Most everything I know about bowling comes from... LOL He has a shirt with that same picture of big ern mccracken on it. This is great example of how depressing it is bowling with him. The "D" is for dad and the "A" is for Andrew. He has tried to teach me several times but I still don't get it. Chuck

Thanks rockjunquie , coloradocliff and icatz I wish the bowlerite was half as popular as the fordite. I have a kid that is a competitive bowler so at any given time he has about 10 bowling balls. High end balls are not cheap either. Usually run $150-200 each so it would be nice to be able to make pendants from the old ones to pay for the next ones. Wishful thinking. Chuck Well, don't forget, Fordite is a finite resource. Hasn't been made since 1977, not easy to find even tho I've heard it's super easy to cab, but finding the right pattern in the cab takes experience. Bowling balls won't ever be a limited resource, unless who knows what happens.

Bowling gets more and more complicated the more you tell us about it. I guess it's like anything else, the more you learn, the more you realize you don't know. I'm still trying to figure out what reverse oiling is. I'm pretty sure that there would be no point in oiling the bottom of the boards.
My dad was born in 1925. During high school or maybe earlier, he had a job setting pins at a bowling alley. I'll bet the game was simpler back then.

As long as the car companies keep painting the plastic bumpers and exterior trim pieces their will be Fordite being produced. They can not use electrostatic paint process on plastic so there is still over spray in the process of painting plastic. Automotive plastics is my trade. Just because it is not old does not mean it is not Fordite. I have some from just about every era and prefer the colors and metallic's of the newer stuff. I have a 12 ounce piece that is so old it came off of a wooden automotive paint rack (still has wood attached). That stuff is crazy hard on the mohs scale. Chuck

Thanks rockjunquie and @shotgunner. Did not mean to turn this into a bowling thread but that does occupy a lot of my time lately. Chuck

If you ask him he would say horrible but that's what he always says. Today established averages which sets their handicap so I did not want him to have too good of a day anyway. He shot a 162 average which is right where he ended last season. He really wants to be at about 170 right now. He does have fun but is also very competitive at the same time. This is his third year with the same kids on the team and they are all good about being competitive yet compassionate at the same time. They are staring to realize it is a team sport so if one kid is having a bad day the others can carry them. Chuck

Seems like an amazing experience all around. Happy for you all.

Seems like an amazing experience all around. Happy for you all. Thanks Scott He just switched from 12 pound balls to 14 pounds last year. When he gets up to 15 pounds and can throw a little harder it should get fun. 200-225 games are pretty common for him now but the high school kids in the next bracket are throwing 250 games every week. We got to witness a 15 year old bowl two 300 games in one day a couple years ago. When Andrew bowled his 263 everyone pretty much stopped bowling around him to watch and that just made it worse. Too much pressure and the quite probably through him off. Chuck

Well, that's awesome. The example match between D and A showed him at 210 plus two balls. So, he doubled his opponent. Lolz
Has he ever thrown 12 in a row?

I have always loved having a few beers and bowling with friends. I can appreciate his ability considering he'd beatme soundly using a 12# ball. My best was 201.
Perhaps bowling will make a television comeback, and he will be a star!
This thread makes me happy. Cabs and kids being excellent. Not much better than that.

Twice with getting the first 8 and once with getting the last 8. Slacker. I take him every Sunday for a three hour block of open practice and I usually throw about 6 games and still would only average about 140-145. He can bowl 12-15 games in a row in that time and not be tired. I am done after 5 or 6 and hurt the next day. Chuck

I thought OSHA sunk their teeth into the overspray thing, making it obsolete. Didn't know there was still some going on, it's not mentioned on any of the articles I've read. Thanks for the update.
