There are people that have really just lost it. There is no right not to be offended, and anything will offend someone. If not offending anyone is the standard you live by, you cannot do anything at all. There are even People who are offended that someone would dare to pick up a pretty rock.

I local high school banned a woman's issue charity bracelet. "I like boobies" was banned because "a girl may be offended". WTF? What girl gets offended by a charity that benefits only her gender?

I am not surprised that HIGH SCHOOL would disallow that bracelet. I'm certain a lot of smart assed kids would wear it just because.

I was in school once, I had a son in school and 2 grandsons in school. I'm telling you that besides the kid who legitimately buys and wears a bracelet because of grandma, there WILL be boys who WILL want to wear "I like boobies" just because it says "I like boobies". That kind of cutting up at school is disruptive. I don't care if someone is offended. I'm saying, I'm not surprised it was banned.

BTW- It is NOT his privilege to wear it at school, if the school disallows it.

BTW- It is NOT his privilege to wear it at school, if the school disallows it. Cellphones are far more disruptive. Not banned.

Do you REALLY not believe that some boys would show that to a girl and raise their eyebrows at them as if to say- I like YOUR boobies? I'm sad that you really have to reach so far to call me PC. Boys have been boys long before there was any such thing as PC. Fact. Maybe, because you are male, you have never been subjected to the kinds of things some boys will do to girls at school or maybe you are just over reaching and naive. I stand behind any school that says that it doesn't belong in the classroom.

I stand behind any school that says that it doesn't belong in the classroom. I actually agree that boys would abuse the bracelets, though the Breast cancer association would make a lot of money. I find it ironic that some of the people that think them inappropriate also believe that children should be able to choose which bathroom they use based on which sex they feel like that day. And aren't willing to understand that boys will take advantage of that. (Girls also in this day and age, I have a lot of friends that are having more issues raising girls that are "pushing the envelope" than boys anymore.)

This thread went full retard in a quickness.
Heck, kids can't wear American flags on their shirts in some schools because someone might be offended.
Schools can and do ban pretty much whatever they want to and for whatever reason they make up.
And while "Joseph" may have some rights, being a student in school he doesn't have all the rights that Joe Adult Citizen may have walking down Main Street USA. A school dress code, for instance, may say that a student must not have their underwear showing above their pants.

Freedom of expression in a school ...bwhahahaha
Can you imagine what a zoo the place would be within 30 minutes if all the little idiots were told that they now have freedom of expression?
LMAO

@shotgunner, not bad at all, the term "freedom of expression" has many facets, some interesting, some fun, and then on to the ridiculous.

Well, I guess that cop shoulda stole that beach ball and more.... My bad. Nope, not my point at all. This thread started out just great. Just sayin' it went way out into left field when it went from a happening in a university campus to little Joey wearing a Save the Boobies bracelet in a public school. Apples to oranges. Children in grade school, jr. high and high school can't and shouldn't have the freedom of expression that should be permitted and expected in a college setting. By the same token, those in higher learning institutions ( and beyond) should be able to cope with differing opinions without having to call for a nanny or run to a safe space. How those that can't deal with different points of view or feel the need for a "safe space" or to run and tell when presented with something with which they don't agree will ever make it in life I have no clue. I reckon some don't and will always remain children and/or child like. It's a pity really ... a society of betas and snowflakes.

Not sure how you can post this while also posting in the Shoutbox "Need to mull over what more I want to say, 'cuz I'm pretty pissed off right now. Thinking we lost a good one due to a whiner."

I'm speaking personally and not as a mod. You think you have claimed a victory, but you haven't. Cliff is living up to a promise he made. You do realize that other people exist and that their presence is not up to your whims? This is not your personal playground. A lot of people really like Cliff. Bashing him in public like you do says more about you than him. I will freely admit that I am not his biggest fan. I'm not defending him because we're buds. I am saying that I thought you were better than this. He's gone and you are still poking him. Was that to me? I'm not bashing anyone. I was making a joke that Bob said people were snowflakes and then got mad when someone (apparently) got mad and took his toys from the sandbox. If I'm poking anyone it's Bob.

No, did I quote the wrong person? Wouldn't be the first time. Sorry.
