Possibly, but with an abraded piece showing no clear crystal faces, it isn't going to be possible to narrow it down from only a photo. You can do a streak test (on the back of a toilet bowl cover) and a hardness/scratch test (using known mineral specimens; should be between fluorite and apatite or obsidian) to narrow down further on your own. Also, it always helps to know the location where it was found. Consult the mindat page to find other characteristics and major locales where scheelite is found.

Found Fresno County down by a river bed. I have several other pieces of it I found down there as well. The place I've discovered was an old gravel pit that has long been shut down. I'll definitely do some more research on it. Thank you!

Sheelite is not an unlikely suspect in that area. In a past lifetime I worked at the Telydine tungsten mine(NW of Fresno) between Mammoth pool reservoir and Bishop Nv. Sheelite (tungsten ore) is fairly common in California but deposits large enough to mine are few (the Chinese own the market too).UV light as @shotgunner suggested is a give away beautiful blue florescences once in a while we would have tours and our favorite thing to do was turn off all the equipment lights and plunge into total darkness and I mean total. We would then turn on our hand held uv lights and the back(ceiling) and ribs(walls would glow like stars in the sky. As a side note a mineral called Powellite may be associated a Molybdenum member of Scheelite series, this will glow yellow.

Something in my gut is telling me that is what it is, but then again my gut has been way wrong before ; )Is the mine still open to tour? I would love to see that. Also, where is a good place to get a light?

Thank you-I have looked through all of them. I really hope that is what it turns out to be, but even if it isn't it is still a very pretty rock ; )

Also, where is a good place to get a light? I got mine from UV Tools. If you go this route, I highly recommend the 11 watt lamp as a minimum. I had the 4 watt, and returned it to get the larger light. Dave

flic.kr/p/Zs7p85Cannot figure out another way to show picture. But hoping someone can identify this. If you want your photos from Flickr to show up in your posts, instead of a link, follow these directions which I've posted for others before. ...with Flickr, you have the ability to copy and paste code that works in posting photos on this site. I'll make this as brief as I can.
Go to your photostream in Flickr and click on the photo you'd like to post here. When that photo loads as a single photo, you should see a series of symbols in the lower right corner of the screen. The curved arrow is what you are looking for.
Click on the curved arrow. After doing so, you should get a screen that says, "Share 1 photo to:". Select the BBCode tab. The code you see in the box is what you will copy and place in your post to show the photo. If you don't know, ctrl+c is copy, and ctrl+v is paste. After you've copied the BBCode, all you have to do is paste it directly in your post. Oh yeah, select "medium" as the size before you copy, as that attribute should be placed in the code you copy.
So with your OP (original post), simply go edit it by deleting your old photo links and pasting in the new ones from the BBCode generator. Again, just place it directly. You don't have to select "link" or "image" from the formatting menu. Hope this helps.Good luck. Dave

Something in my gut is telling me that is what it is, but then again my gut has been way wrong before ; )Is the mine still open to tour? I would love to see that. Also, where is a good place to get a light? The mine closed in about 84 IIRC. The mine was a patented property not sure what the status is these days or if the access road is open. I'm not a Californian just worked there for about 3 yrs then went to Nevada to the gold mines.
