This still needs some work and the back side is about half finished. The top is going to be a water works and if all goes as planned there will be a crank water wheel to take the water back to the top. I like to make moving art and if it is viewer participation I see it as ten times better. I am trying to show the upper elevations with the mountain sheep (look close there is a second one going around the corner) and the lower forested area with the elephant. The back side is covered with a plant. The stone stands about seven inches at the tallest point. Jim

VERY nice rock carving Jim! What type of stone is that? I would very much love to see it as it evolves to a finish. Please keep us updated with your carving's progress.
Well done+++!
Glenn

Thanks Glenn
This stone is a very pale green alabaster that comes from either Utah or New Mexico. I will post a positive ID with my next update. I bought some Utah orange alabaster and this sea green stuff from two different places and can not remember exactly. This stuff really glows when back lit the same as the Utah orange.
Thank you for pointing out that I kind of dropped the ball on this post by not explaining it better. Jim

Hi there, nice to see you at it again.
Nevertheless, you took us along quite some adventure, experimenting with all those different materials and concepts over the past few years.
Keep going, there is yet a lot of potential to be realized by your gifted hands and beautiful imagination.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I have made some progress, YAY, and have more carving drawn on the stone. I used to print a photo of what I wanted to carve then used carbon paper to trace it onto the stone. I was out of printer ink when I was ready to put the elephant on the stone so I sat in front of the monitor and drew the elephant. Yeah, I was amazed to because I have always thought I could not draw worth spit. Now I have a creek, pond and fish drawn on the rock to fill the empty spaces. I am trying to learn the carving style of the Chinese. When I was there i was totally amazed by carvings of an entire village or whatever and they had not cut any deeper than one quarter inch and most wasn't more than one eighth inch depth. A lot like drawing on flat paper but with stone the shading is not so easy. The creek and pond are going to be a real test. Top that I hope I can turn into a real water park. Back side with some high leaves. Added a second tree, worked on the rocks behind the mtn sheep and the chicken scratch drawing lover left. Thanks for looking. Jim Just realized I did not show a back lit photo and getting photos from my phone (camera coughed it up) to my computer then to here is a real pain so it will have to wait for next time.

Maybe it is the elephant, but I'm getting a Mughal Indian vibe from your design: the type of work they were doing 250 years ago. Really nice, and I also can barely wait to see photos of the finished piece. Will be awesome in the round.

Tommy , I hope I have not caused any legal problems by using the RTH name on my rock quarry. We can say it belongs to everyone. Another project that got way out of hand and blew up bigger than life. I am blaming it on all the damn snow. 16 inches here in Montana so I have not gotten out much. If the water reservoir is filled the water wheel will lift water to the top and dump it in the quarry water system. Gotta keep the saws cool ya know. The hot water flows back through the stone in an underground river and dumps back into the reservoir. Unfortunately I did not create any jobs but ya can't win them all. Jim

WTF?
Mind officially boggled. I regret to inform that I love it when you get cabin fever!
I see a flea and get bit. You see a flea and visualize the entire circus!

It took me awhile to see the "RTH Rock Quarry" sign on the top. The whole project is Super Fine. Lovin' the "High" leaves on the back.
