I have not been active in gun auctions. I really like the 15 minute rule. Snipe at the bell? Not possible, after every bid there is an additional 15 minutes added to the closing time. The sites rightly claim an advantage to the seller by taking the item to the true value of the item. Whoa... can you imagine if they rolled that out on Ebay? hahaha It would pretty much put an end to the whole sniper issue. Probably put an end to ebay too.

I really do not think so. Snipers would no longer reign, more money would be spent on items, consequently more money would be made by the site. People that detest the practice, like me, ( mostly because we are not good at sniping) would come back to eBay.

I collect old fishing lures and I ended up sniping one on eBay.(Not real good at it.) Anyway, the bidder that I sniped it from got my email address. Naturally, He sent me a email, calling me all sorts of names and I responded back Saying, " it sounds like your trying to pick me up but I'm sorry, not that kind of guy." I think I could see the fire coming out his ears. The next email from him Was even stronger than the first. I just laughed. But I was number one and he stepped in number two.

I would not stay around the next 15 min. to see if I need to bid again............................MrP

Always good to take the high road when dealing with A-holes, they live in a messed up world that they create for themselves. I do believe I would have responded with something along the lines, thanks for the e-mail and have forwarded it to Ebay. I suppose Ebay could care less.

Not sure how the extra 15 minutes eliminates sniping?, it just moves the sniping to 15 minute later doesn't it? By the way I have no issue with sniping as I have done it a few times myself and won some, lost some. It's the way the game is played.

I have to admit to being a sniper - I've never perfected it though. I can't seem to hold my water down past around the six seconds range - I get skeered and press the button Maybe if Ebay made it optional for the seller to decide between a firm or a soft closing time? I'm betting most sellers would opt for the soft close.

Ebay stopped letting bidders see each others identities years ago, the only way to get your info would be from the seller. I would definitely report it to ebay, AFTER I received the item. Auctions are an experience, be it live or online. Things like sniping or, in the case of live auctions, doing things to convince your bidding opponent that you are willing to pay more than they are to get them to stop bidding, all part of the show. If you snipe in the final seconds the seller gets more money than they would if you didn't, bottom line.

With around 8 hours remaining... ? Better check your calendar, Tommy. Closer to 32hours.

He is "calendularly" challenged. Is that a word? Well, it should be. If follicularly (or follicly) challenged is a thing, so should it be.
2nd thought - Was going to use "chronologically" challenged, because it seems he has trouble with times and dates, but that actually means something totally different. (Having to do with old age, senility, old-timers, etc.) So that wouldn't apply here.... Right? LOL.

Maybe he's trying to protect me from snipers by making them think the auction ends today?
PS: I'm chronologically challenged under all those definitions.
