How do you geet rid of them? Drown them in a bucket of water. Then toss into the bushes. Rinse & Repeat. |

I thought this was kind of funny.
But I worked for a laser company and we used
a power supply the would turn a small 9 volt
Battery and you would get over 5000 volts output.
But the duration was milliseconds just like a strong shock.
So I made a PVC pipe so the mole would walk through it
Trip the switch and it got hit with 5000 volts.
I got a Mole to go through the pipe a he got zapped.
All that did was it caused him to pee all over the place.

Now that it's getting colder, a flippin' rat decided to move in. Cat could care less - spoiled, lazy creature that he is. We put some poison out where Cat couldn't get it. Now I just hope he doesn't die in the house and stink us out.

Pocket gophers here. Try are kind of easy. Open a hole in the tunnel, add poison, put a shingle over the hole, gopher dies. We quit poisoning rodents inside long ago. They always seem to die in the wall or some other inaccessible place. I might have gotten a flying squirrel with a mouse trap. They have a grand time knocking stuff down at our camp. I have tried rat traps to no avail. He might have gotten hit just right to cause him to lay down next to the trap. If he was dead I would feed his body to a family of foxes near here. Foxes will put a hurting on the rodent population, I have no poultry, I like those fox.

I love to use Sherman live traps for rodents. Got used to them when I was setting research trap lines in college. They fold up so you can carry a hundred at a time in your backpack. Using Shermans allows me to separate out the good rodents from the bad ones. Very few rodents here in the hill country so I hate killing the neat little white footed deer mice and other seldom seen native species, so the live traps allow me to free the good'uns away from the house. So strange to live somewhere where there are no gophers or moles too...Mel

I borrowed a cat for a week to solve my mouse problem- like Tela, my cat was fat and lazy and sat while I killed 5 mice during her "reign". Cat is returned to owner, Thank God as I hate litter boxes. The baited sticky traps worked well, I caught 3 @ once on the same sticky. Snap traps have been hit or miss, literally. No worse smell as when they die somewheres and ya can't find 'em.

Unk. That's why you are always supposed to tether snap traps. If for instance, you are trapping in an attic, the dang rodents often drop down in between the walls where they really stink. Tie a tether to a nail and you can reel them right in. No stink!.......Mel

Now I just hope he doesn't die in the house and stink us out. Good luck with that. We used to have a couple feral cats around here that were good at catching rats and mice. But they disappeared a couple of months ago. Oh well. Now late last night I heard a critter down in the crawl space under the floor. Looks they burrowed under the foundation to get in. Hope I catch it before it tears up the insulation. |

Tethered snap rat trap. Chew up some Quaker instant oats in your cheek. Put a patty on the trap with just a dab of peanut butter (optional). Sets up almost like a cookie so it takes some work to eat it. Catches all kinds of rats and mice....Mel

We rarely have gophers, but when we do, we find two holes and cover with a board with a rock on top to hold it down. Before we cover one of the holes, we light one of those red flare sticks used to indicate car trouble on the road. Stick the flare down the hole, and cover it.
No more gophers. Works.

Put it underwater where the muskrat has carved swim trails thru algae. He will go right in the trap and the door closes only to drown.  Note: It is impossible for a muskrat to walk up a creek and NOT pass through a hollow log laying in the creek. So place trap accordingly. Beavers - Break a 12" X 12" hole in his dam at sun down and place a conibear trap in the flow. He will be yours by morning. |

There was a Cold Snap and
The Mice moved in
They stole the insulation
from the walls
Then built a nest in my Oven
Pitter Patter across the
Walls of my Cranium
Drives me Nuts.....
