I tend to watch, almost exclusively, Netflix and Amazon Prime rather than regular cable, except for sports. No commercials and the ability to watch a series at the pace I want, rather than waiting for the next installment are huge pluses. Also, I sleep very little, so it's easy to run through a series pretty quickly. I am always looking for a good watch, and prefer a recommended movie or series. I thought I'd see what everyone else is watching and see if people wanted to share what they've liked.
The last series I watched was on Netflix. Has anyone else seen Black Mirror? It's a British series, which would normally discount it for me. I sometimes feel I have to concentrate too hard to get through the accent to understand or enjoy the dialogue. We don't get too much of that dialect in Eastern KY. The series is comprised of stand alone episodes, all pertaining to technology in the future and the dark side of human nature. It very much has a Twilight Zone feel, with unexpected conclusions at times. They use different directors and locations, including the US, to give each episode a very different feel. Anyone who enjoys Sci-Fi would enjoy this series. I am not even particularly a big fan of Sci-Fi, but I enjoyed the show. Some episodes are better than others, but overall, I'd consider it worth watching.
So, what say you? Anything you've seen lately that should be on the watchlist?

We're huge Black Mirrors fans. Right now, we're watching Fortitude. We want to binge it, but force ourselves to watch one or two a night. If you don't like accents- avoid it.

What I watch, and recommend watching; Grandchildren Sunsets and sunrises People in public places, sometimes immensely entertaining. Life in general Pretty rocks, of course.
I pretty much killed my TV in 1990 I do own one, my son came home from the army and had an extra one, it's been turned on maybe a dozen times in 2 or 3 years and only to see a movie on dvd when he's here. When we travel and stay in motels the idiot box is a welcome distraction, but that's it for broadcast TV.

This question is posed to those that do watch the idiot box. There isn't much else to do between 10 PM and 3 AM, when the rest of the family is in bed.

Thanks for the suggestions. 'Ozark' is another series I've enjoyed recently. Highly recommend that one on Netflix.

Hi Randy. I am going to say "yes" to some of MsAli 's choices and add some. Yes to Longmire, Stranger things and Narcos. The only bad thing about Narcos is that you have to sit in front of the TV the whole time and not turn your back on it. Subtitles are used at times, so you could miss some important "dialogue" if you are not watching (or don't speak Spanish). I am not normally OK with subtitles, but these are not distracting. I'll also throw in some old stand-bys, only in the event you hadn't seen them...Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, and Walking Dead. I have to start binging again myself, as we just finished the last season of Longmire. If you watch it all now, that's a good thing. We started watching it when only 4 seasons were on Netflix, so we had to wait a year at a time to pick up seasons 5 and 6. That said, I think the Man on High Castle was also recommended to me. If I recall correctly, it takes place as if Germany had actually won WWII. Have fun. Dave

I have a TV, mostly just watch news, Big Bang Theory, and an occassional movie. Usually am reading a book while in front of said TV. Have never had the desire to binge watch anything. Don't understand it.

Might have to give The Man in the High Castle a try. I've seen parts of Stranger Things while my son watched it. I assumed it was for a younger crowd, but I know a lot of people recommend it. Hope you enjoy Quartzite!

We're having a good time here Randy. We hit one big show site today, and we'll probably hit a couple tomorrow. We have met up with a bunch of RTH folks, and it's neat to see all of the stuff that's out here. Wife is also enjoying it, though she's mainly interested in finished pieces of jewelry. In fact, I think she's spent more than I have already. I've only bought some mookaite and a 50 lb bag of 46-70 grit which was cheaper than I could have Kingsley send it to me for. I have some other things in mind to look for, so we'll see how tomorrow goes. Didn't mean to hijack, so I'll get this back on topic. If I recall correctly, the Man in the High Castle is on Amazon only for now. Dave

Reminds me of the Don Henley song 'Dirty Laundry'. I tend to pick and choose the stories I'm interested in online. Besides, ignorance is bliss.

Randy, you are so right! The news is depressing! That's why I read a book while the TV is on. I just can't sit there like a slug binge watching anything for hours at a time, lol. Got better things to do.

Got better things to do. I go like a whirlwind until late at night, then watch something for a couple/few hours until I crash. It's the reward for an always busy day. I'd rather do that than sleep.

I never watch the news. Ever....same thing every day. Causes too many negative emotions. Sons of Anarchy is AMAZING-would of been on my list, but I thought you may have alreafy seen it. I really don't watch A Lot of tv especially during the week. Mainly hockey, Greys anatomy, This Is Us and then Netflix (A Lot of documentaries) So the binge watching, I can't do either. I prefer reading and can give you a ton of books you may enjoy. Plus I like my sleep way too much😊

I wasn't made for sitting still long enough to read a book. I sometimes listen to them with ear buds while working in the yard, putzing around in the garage, cooking, riding in the car, etc. Maybe I should give my version of 'binge watching', and explain why I prefer it over reading a book. I feel more like a slug, just sitting there reading. It takes full attention. I can have the TV on and still: exercise, play tug of war and fetch with the dogs, browse the internet, post on RTH, clean the room I'm in, mess with rocks, work on Photoshop, and so on. Those are my 'wind down' activities, that can be multitasked while the TV is on, but not while reading. Then, run out of gas, crash out and hit the hay. If you have any documentary suggestions, send them along. Good chance I've seen those on Netflix. I love a documentary. ETA: I see sleep as a waste of time. Wish it wasn't necessary at all.

A recent study came out that links lack of sleep to Alz and dementia. Not to mention higher obesity, cardiovascular disease, depression and more. Sleep is necessary. And as it is I only get about 4-6 hours of it😣 Documentaries- What The Health, We were there, Down The Fence, The C Word, Edge of the Universe, so many more. I drive my students nuts with documentaries on healthy eating. Author you may enjoy, CJ Box. I can't do audible, part of reading a good book is your own imagination. You seem to use the tv for more background noise?

"I can't do audible, part of reading a good book is your own imagination" Whether written or spoken, I still have to use imagination to 'see' the characters, setting, etc. Yes, mostly background noise, but I do stop and watch the 'good parts'. I guess I get the gist of the show. Alzheimer's and cardiovascular disease run in my family. I'm resigned to the fact I'll likely end up with Alzheimer's, but at least I exercise to avoid obesity and have a better shot of fighting cardio disease. Faulty logic, to be sure, but I fight sleep to squeeze as much time in during my 'good' years, rather than extend the time dwelling in the not so good ones.
