Well Don, my friend, I ordered mine today, and I am antsy to start on a project. You can be sure I'll be giving you a 'ring'. I'd like to start on something soft, any suggestions? That Peridot of 'RiverOtters' would be "Killer" faceted. I feel like a little kid waiting for the thing to arrive.

Please do keep posting pics of your faceted stones (and marbles). Those are awesome. I'd love to get one of those faceters. As soon as I've got a little extra dough laying around, I might give that guy a call.
How much time do you have in the marble? I know you put in quite a few hours in the quartz.

Don, that little doo-dad is definitely neat! Keep postin' pics of the stones you are cutting. Of course, it just makes me want one, but since I must resist right now, I can enjoy looking at your work with it.

I'd like to see more photos of your facetting efforts too.
I'd never have the patience for something like that...I'd be reaching for a hammer long before 12 hours had passed. It's neat to see what others can do though. Well done.

Thanks all. Alright Banjo! cool, it is recommended that you start with quartz in the beginning. The kit comes with a couple of official 'Gem Balls' A.K.A marbles..hehe. Tami, you best get one ;D. Like you said, it's in your blood. You too John, but as small as they are, you still might not have enough room with all the goodies you have in your place now..hehe Heck, Rivotters hubby, trouthunter, llana and rollingstone. Ya might as well get one too. James, fire yours up, you'll have a blast. Is it a regular, powered one? Sounds like you got a heck of a deal on it buddy. Talk to ya later, Don

Dear Don, sick of looking at your rocks? NEVER! I love the look of the faceted ones...but it's too much math for my small brain to attempt. However if you ever feel like giving one or five away well...did I mention my birthday is May 5? HINT HINT

That is beautiful Don. You did a superb job on it. Hubby had a technical question for ya. Where did you get your info on the critical angles for the different type of stone material?
Banjo, did you email the guy or call him to order it? Does he accept credit cards or did you have to pay with cash? I'm definitely going to order one for hubby but I was going to wait until after we came back from DisneyWorld. (Taking the 6 and 8 year old for a week at DisneyWorld over 4th of July.) Anyway, thinking maybe I should get it right away before you all order and he has none left!! ;D

I e-mailed him and he gave me the address to mail a check to. Then he e-mailed me back a few days later with the extra $9.75 shipping handling.

I can't wait to see what you do with it, Banjocreek. I have to admit to being absolutely facinated with this thing. I've got to hold off until next month, though.

Well right now, I'm reading. Then I'll be assembling. Then I gotta get a 10x12 piece of plate glass and an alcohol lamp. By then I'll probably have to read some more. Give me about a week or 2 ;D Don- you gonna give me your phone number?

Heck yeah Banjo, congrats on getting one of these little boys. I'm telling you, I'm having a blast with it. It is a lot of work, but also relaxing. Once I get started on one, I can't hardly leave it alone...you'll see. They get easier as they go too, the first few will get you in the groove. Faceting is really interesting, the angles and how they work the light...it's cool. I'll IM my Phone # to ya, call anytime buddy, it is confusing at first. I'm not sure I would have done well at all if I hadn't sat with the guy for a couple of hours. I'll help you anyway I can, I have a lot to learn too though. I have been working on an emerald cut with a green marble. It turned out OK, but the Lap Lap isn't really designed for that particular cut, I just improvised a little and used some different ways to turn one out. It was a bear and I had to make a lot of small adjustments on the thing to get it shaped right and the facets to meet. I can see myself dropping some cash on a regular machine some day, but this little thing is great to get started in another obsession......like I need another one ;D. Talk to you later, Don
