Hey, I found them, and it is obvious that the reason I tossed them in the plastic dish is that I had to face up to sorting out which would improve with more grinding. These are small and tedious. I see one really pretty clear mint green chip and several gemmy looking areas on other stones. Then, there are others that definitely need more work. I'll try to get some photos in daylight this weekend. It should be interesting for those working on emeralds. I've seen some really crummy looking ones at rockshops and shows, they would have been way better with more grinding.

Puppie, although I didn't bring up this initial post, your emerald batches are the finest I have seen on this board. If you have done some in recent times please post them!!! I guess I am in denial but my favorite color is green. I never see any emeralds posted on this site. When I think of this stone it reminds me of the emerald city, I wish i could be in that happy place!!

Updated Emerald Photos, as requested by Nephrite: As I was saying, a few months ago I did a few emeralds again. They've been in a plastic container waiting for me to sort through them, since many of these I could stand more work. I started a sort, generally the better ones are on the right side of these photos.

I think it's time I tried to get some of these. I have an extra barrel that I can start up and just let it roll for however long it takes without preventing me from tumbling other stuff. Do you just get them off of ebay? Any particular seller?

BUMP
(I see people in some other threads are asking what happened to these pics, so I'm bumping the thread up. The reason it is hard to find by searching is that a long time ago pup used to send her pics to donwrob (who disappeared 3 years ago), and he would post them for her.)

RS/Don, I have to tell you once more how honored I feel that you've hung on to these for so long. That's really high praise. Thank you. To think that I was so early in the photo stuff that I couldn't even figure out for myself how to use photobucket. Speaking of which, donwrob was a great guy, and I really miss him. Anybody still in touch?

Those are very nice looking. When you said, "I have no idea what to do with them", that hit home with me, because I think that's why I haven't been real interested in tumbling to this point. I can see the usefullness of tumbling pre-shaped pieces for pendants, but when I see the pics of tumbling lots that people have done, I always wonder what in the heck they're going to do with all of those smooth, shiny rocks. I figure they probably just sit in a crystal candy dish on the coffee table. But then...
I just read the "Gem Tree" thread here, and I really liked the general idea. It's a concept that would allow for a lot of creativity, and would be a lot of fun. Even little expanded "scenes" could be done, incorporating trees, bushes, animals ... whatever tickles your fancy. Emeralds would be excellent for this sort of project, since they're green. You could add other gems such as rubies or amethysts to accent as "buds" on the trees.
Hmmm ... maybe I'll need to buy a good tumbler ...
