Yes, some humor here, but natural stone is the only way I can describe them. Yes, there is one composite pictured.
Something a little different. Posting a representative sample, but that could change to include more. Unloaded more from car, so photos added 3-17-18. This includes another, larger, piece of larvikite with excellent flash. Received somewhat positive ID from my friend in Norway. She has some jewelry made from this and rough stones. It was mined South of Oslo. This piece could have come from Norway or Canada, as the material is mined in both areas. Neighbor I met yesterday stopped by and asked if I had any of the light colored pieces with red stones. Showed him a few and another, darker piece with red. He said the red portions are either Garnet or Ruby. They are not sure yet. I cannot tell myself. The color looks more like Ruby, but the likelihood of that would be amazing. I am leaning towards Garnet or one of the other red quartz type rocks.
New photos first. Found another, larger, larvikite, with much better flash.
These are scraps from a counter/tile business. Their product line ranges from local to world wide. The pile I went through was the “natural stone”, pile. Nothing in there should have been composite/manufactured Quartz. This is the term the business uses for counters they make the following way: Take natural stone and grind to pebble size. Add stone that has been crushed to almost powder. Add a binding agent. Pour into molds. The result is manufactured, stone based counters.
Even met a neighbor, who helped me go through the pile, as I was not dressed for “rock hunting”. My selections were weighed and paid for. I also have permission to search the piles at any time. They took down my car description/license number and are letting local authorities know it is OK for me to be there. I will be back this weekend, as there are some larger pieces, which I can lift that are beautiful.
Here is the deal. SFRB’s are $18.00 and MFRB’s are $32.00, including shipping. This stuff is heavy, so I cannot do LFRB’s.
Below is a representative sample. Most pieces are polished on one side. All are 1 ¼” thick. All, have at least two smooth edges, most have more than that. Maximum size pieces for SMFR’s is 7.5” by 5.5”. Could only fit one piece that size in a box. For MFRB’s, maximum size is about 10.5” by 8.5”. Could fit some smaller pieces in each box, depending on what you want. Smallest size is about 3” by 1.5”. Still could get a couple cabs from it. Some have the Schiller effect, aka are iridescent in places. The counters sell from $70.00 to $170/sq. ft., so this is pretty high grade material. I was amazed that there were some pieces in the scrap pile that were about 3’ wide by 5’ long. That is a small island in itself.
All boxes will be lined with corrugated cardboard. Stones will be wrapped in bubble wrap. This is to prevent the box from breaking open in shipment. All boxes will be double and triple covered with heavy duty packing tape.
You tell me specific patterns, colors and sizes you want. I will put together a box for you and send photos. If you do not want it, no problem. Just give me more specifics and I will try again. Great opportunity for someone who has limited equipment, but likes to cab. Paypal payment after you agree to contents of a specific box.
Below are photos of some of today’s pickings. Have about 45 more I did not photograph yet, but they are the same material as these. Will keep adding as I unload car.
3-17-18-Small update. Went rock climbing again today. Found many larger pieces of what vegasjames said might be garnet amphibolite. Many of these have Schiller Effect. Otherwise mostly more of the same as below in various sizes. A few that might be unpolished larvikite or something similar. Spoke with neighbor again today, as he was there. He said that most of the pieces with “red clear stones”, were all from the same place, could not remember exactly where. Part of the hill had darker colors and part lighter ones. All depended on what part of the hill. This will be the last of the photos, unless any one wants to see more. I can always email them.
A few of the lighter ones with garnets+

This one might be a composite that accidently went in the wrong pile.
