Right now leather is 'in'. You might want to consider a larger hole and do something like this. Picture stolen from Google. ![](https://www.aobeipearl.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/e/t/ets-s825-1.jpg) Thanks Ann. I was hoping leather or cord was popular now. Buying chains of any quality is expensive. Bigger holes are easier to drill.

I'm curious. Why don't you make a 100 lot and put it on eBay? Hell, put 100 lots here. lparker and <'))))>< Fish and I am sure lots of others work many shows a year. Never thought about Ebay. And this forum is all about rocks so these would be a bit out of their category just guessing. I have plenty of time, in no rush. If I take a break and start working on marketing I lose my groove in artistic melting quality. Collecting ideas, like your mention of Ebay. Sorta in marketing data collection mode. I am new to this and green compared to most of the glass fusers out there. It takes focus to get presentable competitive pendant melts. After seeing what they were selling at the festival a couple of weeks ago these should hold their own competitively as people were buying some junk too. Glass is competitive though and it takes showy products to compete. My best bet is to bail them, string them, and have them at a festival to get a feel of how well they sell. And I need to start pre-drilling some of them so the holes can be tumbled clean. I grind most at the flat lap to have a robust 'hanging' corner for drilling to accept pinch bails. That is a minimum. Just now getting the groove on producing at minimum effort. Got the tumbling down to shortest optimum run time and least possible required steps. The type and size of the abrasives continued to blow my mind as they have such a different effect on glass. Lots of good surprises in that department. Optimum tumbling process just does not happen overnight. Mass screw ups on obsidian in the past helped a bunch with tumbling glass. I will be doing glass pendants for years and that won't change. Call it my retirement activity. Perfect challenge for me, it just fits. Like finding the right woman. [Very][Polite voice] I think you are a bit amiss on the characterization that the folks here are all about rocks. It's my observation from attending rock shows that the sellers will offer myriad non rock products. If it's profitable why not? Plus your glass is an analog. Same as many rock products. It's an obvious addition to any rock show display. Don't limit yourself. Let your potential buyers here decide if it is a for for their booth. [/Polite voice][/very]

I appreciate it. Eventually they will be available to any and everyone. I really want to set up an outlet to any interested parties.

I've researched leather cord and bought a bunch from Artbeads, they had the best price, great quality (IMO from what I got) and free shipping. My daughter and I want to set up a booth to sell some 'simple' pieces. Pearls on leather, simply made silversmithed pieces and the like. My hope is to offset my silver cost (not even trying to break even LOL) so I can experiment more on the things I want to make.

Bought some real junk. tickled to have a supplier you mentioned. Ordering today. Thanks. Great luck to you with your endeavor. I need to see if I can melt those beads you sent. If I have luck melting them into a fun and usable shape I will send you some.

I ordered black and light brown natural leather, round and 2mm. Like 39 cents/foot from Artbeads. I also ordered the larger/thicker silver pinch bales, 12mm long, bare bones w/no decorations. Just smooth yokes. They were a bit over $2 as opposed to Fire Mt equivalent at almost $4. Here is some bails. The ones with swivels are Etsy and only $9/50 and are thin and cheap, all the others are stouter Fire Mt 173, 176 and 177 @ $2 to $3.80 ea. Pre bend them twice prior to pinching them so they will be stiffer due to 'work hardening'. The drill broke out of the back leaving a fine little perfect funnel. Must be a glass thing being homogenous. No way I will drill first and then tumble, not worth the risk. So easy with Dremel @ 8000 RPM in it's drill press. I like the black and white one, it never got slumped flat - see the twist in the glass ? I am pleased: ![](https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/910/42043975501_710d3ce3b9_c.jpg) ![](https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/968/41323656954_103e54e2e9_c.jpg)

I'm curious as to how many holes you are getting from your drill bits. I haven't tried drilling glass- yet. If asked and answered already, my apologies.

Looking good jamesp! They will sell. So I have this big roll around tool box chock-full Robin. Inventory growing quickly and maintained in good order. The large inventory is like money in a safe figuring they will sell eventually. Lol, at this point at $1 each they would pay my investment off. Many failed businesses have lost a lot more money failing than this endeavor. No matter, it is a labor of love so there is no loss because this is fun. Got gifts for a lifetime if all else fails !

If asked and answered already, my apologies. 30 holes and still drilling like new unclesoska. Using an import 1mm bit. Agate lasts about 6 holes for me. Bet it will do 100 holes before trashing. Takes about 30 seconds and I only back out 2 to 3 times at the very end of the hole. Bearing down hard with the drill press handle the first 75%. Hard enough to start slowing the 4000 Dremel set at 8000 RPM. Not being gentle. Was starting to be able to judge drill depth to know when to reduce pressure at end. I can say the electroplated 8 inch lapper blade has ground a few 1000 before wearing to about 50%. Glass may be ~Mohs 5.5 and quartz may be 7 but quartz is probably 4 times harder than glass. Let's just say glass coarse shapes in the tumbler at least 30 times faster than hard agate my experience. The blow out is so minor that the pinch bail easily covers the damage. Keep in mind this is only a 1mm hole, hole + damage only spans 2mm to 2.5mm. ![](https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/826/41154073405_3d7d44e50c_b.jpg)

Sounds rather tectonish. An M 6.0 quake is ten times stronger than an M 5.0 quake and releases thirty-one times more energy.

Keep trying to profile you and get stumped, for years lol. However one thing for sure you are very intelligent. Keep me guessing. So you will know the difference of linear and logarithmic. ![](http://blog.nerdbucket.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/graph.jpg)

Tectonish is the new LogarithmicI looked it up because it came from you and Rich lol. You guys get clever at times ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) . The both of you shoot up over my head at times more so in your bailiwicks but still. Tectonic destruction ![](https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/975/28185058658_92cea5746e_b.jpg)
