Cookie, I've been having a similar problem with quartz. If you'll recall, I did a batch of amethyst a couple of months ago and was really disappointed with the shine. I had used a 4-step process with aluminum oxide. I reran them in cerium. Still disappointed. So I backed them up and reran again but added the 1000 step and used cerium. Guess what? I was still disappointed with the shine. Had the exact same problem with the rose quartz. Well I've been working on some citrine recently and decided to try tin oxide for the polish this time. Wow it made a huge difference for me. I was pretty pleased with the shine. Think I'll be using tin for quartz from now on.

Hell, if I can get a wet shine with agate and jasper, quartz should be a breeze! gggrrrr cookie
	If you hit the speed bumbs really fast, you hardly feel them at all.

Frustrating isn't it? I know how you feel. After rerunning the amethyst and rose quartz 3 times I finally gave up. But with the results I had with the citrine, I am considering throwing them back in with the tin. Sure can't hurt!
