Beautiful job. You are a craftsman. I could never take on a project like that. My only project was to take an 8" cabber that had two wheels and reconfigure it to five wheels. I only needed to buy the spacers and of course the wheels. My machine is a beast and when I downsize, I'll probably get a two wheel arbor and swap wheels through the grinding and sanding steps. Would you mind sharing pics of your 5 wheel swap? I have an 8" Raytech Gemmaker and would like to do something similar. What size wheels did you go back with if I may ask? Any other details would be super Thank You

Great job Walt. I like the idea of plastic guards and splash pans.

It looks like a plastic Lortone. No rust, no fuss. If you have too much water going on, you might consider a pressure reducer. Too much splash with a set up like that probably means too much water period. Just thinking without many facts.

manofglass I love your cabber. Thanks for posting your build progress. The cloth in front of the wheels not only keeps you from getting soaked, it spreads the water on the full width of the wheel, that is, if you've made it touch the wheel. Yes, it will wear out, so you just replace them every year or so. Lynn

I replaced the aluminum spacers with shaft collars Two shaft collars between each wheel tighten Down the end nuts then tighten the set screws Wheels don’t slip now the spacers were pressed Into the wheels had fun getting them out This is what I came up with
