Okay folks, don't laugh! I have been grinding, grinding, grinding and here's pics of my first attempts. Some I am happy with, some I need to do some more work on. Pics of 1st & 2nd attemps were badly blurred and I am tired of taking pics, downloading to the laptop, then having to take some more because the others were blurred. For someone taking a photography course, I sure take crappy pics! ;D So, these two are actually my 3rd and 4th attempts. I don't know what kind of rock the one on the left is, pet wood, I think. It went thru a week or so of 60/90 and when I checked the barrel, I took it out 'cause I thought it was neat looking. I did some touch-up work on it, but not much. The diamond shaped one is some of the quartz I got from Cookie. The one on the left is parrot wing. The middle is some kind of agate I got at the rock shop and the other is from whole boxful of slabs BE and I bought. This is more parrot wing. It is from the second batch I bought. The other one is from the first batch They sure are different. This was my first try at rounding the corners. Needs a bit more work, but for the first try, I think it's pretty darn good. This is leopard skin. This stuff is going to be gorgeous when I get it polished! My first try at doing round ones. These are going to be the tops for a couple of my walking sticks. And this last one is a cross I made. I cut the shape on my 4" saw, then had to grind it to shape it better, round off the edges and smooth the sides. I am pretty happy with it. It or one similar is going to be a Christmas present. That's all folks! At least for now. I have been really surprised at how easy this is and that it takes so little time to do one. Of course, these have only been done on the 100 grit wheel. I know that taking it thru the whole process takes a while longer, but I thought the initial grind would take ages - like on the dremel! I am also surprised at how fast my bucket gets full and has to be emptied, even though at least half of the water ends up on ME! Anyway, this grinding stuff is FUN!!!!! ;D ***************** Can ya' see them now?

HMMMM, I can see them. Wonder if I did something wrong - I posted them the same way I always do - or if there is something wrong on the board. I clicked on your First Attempts link to kinda compare my first ones to your first ones and the pics didn't come up there. And there are a bunch of pics on that thread! Just checked it again and now the pics do come up. Maybe soon somebody else will click on this thread and if they can't see them either, I will know I did something wrong and will try to figure out what and fix it.

Well, since Cookie can't see them either, I musta screwed up. So, will try to figure out what I did and fix it.

Hey LZ, Sorry I missed your call earlier. Thought you were going to come over today. Sorry I missed you.
I just turned on the computer a few minutes ago, but I can't get your pics either. What's up with this?

Well, crap! I can't figure out what the heck I did wrong. Did the same thing I always do when I post a pic. I rolled Kilz on the bathroom walls today and rolled on some of the paint I already have to see if I would like it. Not sure if I do or not. Did some grinding, finished painting a couple of pots, broke out the baby saw and cut the cross in the pic that no one can see. Obviously, I didn't make it to town!

No, I have a website at Bravenet. This is the first time I have ever had a problem posting a pic. Can't figure out what the heck is wrong.

Well, it apparently just isn't my day for posting pics! I went over to photobucket to register and here's the message I got
We are experiencing network problems. We are working on it, sorry for the inconvenience.
Maybe tomorrow!

Great first attempts! My favorites are the parrot wing and the cross. Maybe one day in the future I will try to learn to use a grinder.

You can see them, Moon?! This is too weird. I can see them, you can see them, but nobody else can.
You much have the majic picture mojo workin'! ;D
Nothin' to using the grinder. It's so much easier than I thought it would be! Fun too! If you like tumblin', you'll love grindin'! It's a great stress reliever - if I hadn't aleady taken my shower, I would go grind some because this picture thing is causing me some stress!! ;D

Llana don't worry about it, I'm sure there is a temporary problem in some areas and probably everybody will be able to see your pictures by tomorrow!

Since you can see them, I know that I haven't forgotten how to post a pic and I'm not crazy! Or at least not any crazier than I was before I tried to post them!

Llana, I was able to see them, you did a great job, especially the cross. When I first clicked on the post, all I could see was the little square for the pic. I right clicked on each one and clicked view picture, then could hit the back button to the post and it was there. You're getting really good at doing them. I so want a grinder. You're getting really good at doing them.
Thanks, but I have a long way to go before I am really good. I have two butter tubs full of small slabs to practice on and about 15 larger slabs I can make more crosses. They are going to be Christmas presents for my family. So much more fun that having to go shopping - UCK! I hate shopping, except at the rock shop! ;D
I love the pet wood one. Think I am going to try to wirewrap that one. I also love the leopard skin. Shorty sent me a piece of his leopard skin and it is gold and black. Apparenty it comes in a variety of colors, but I really like the pink/black. But then, I have met few rocks that I don't like!
