On the east edge of Baraga on the north side of the road is a little family restaurant that makes great cinnamon rolls

That looks like a great trip. The UP is on my bucket list of places to see. I was born in Highland Park, family homes were in Southfield, but I haven't been back since I was a kid. It looks like a beautiful area...rocks or not.

What Rob said - that is a lovely chain coral, aka halysites, an extinct tabulate coral. I like the brachiopods, petoskeys and the other critters, too. Thanks for sending us reports "from the road" and keep having fun!

TheRock, I think you need to get some new Michigan State shirts. I kid. My mom was a spartan, though I was always a fan of Big Blue while growing up.

This one cracks me up! Great finds too! What is the size/weight cut off for legally taking petoskeys?

That looks like it was a great trip.
I don't know what it is now, but bridges creep me out. Even the photos give me the willy's. I find it strange as I used to rappel out of helicopters and off buildings without issue.
