As for the shape, I've found agates, and the blue lace inparticular, just break in that manner. Rectangular or cubic. That is, if you break them by hand, not by saw. Pre shaping would be your best bet if you want a particular shape for the finished stone. I think

If you hit the speed bumbs really fast, you hardly feel them at all.
