Received from drocknut This one is perfect as is. Might do a face polish on it with the Dremel later. No clue what it would be called, but do not want to destroy by cutting for cabs. About 3.75" wide. To me it looks like a horse head in the middle.

That's really cool. How thick is it? Does light shine through it? I've seen some slabs like this that are displayed in a frame with a small led light behind to shine through. It's striking on some slabs.

Thanks for the ID. This is something I had never heard of before. I love it. I don't think they were calling it Doberman agate. It LOOKS like a Doberman head! Lynn

I didn't know what it was either...lol. It was cool so I included it in the box. I was thinking it might be some type of Mexican Agate considering the banding and colors.

This is noted for the being the best agate in the world according to the world of shares book I have. This stuff has been mined for years and over the years many veins and pockets have been found around the mountain in that area. This is only poorly cut very hard

Did some research. This is very interesting. As of 2014, the Gem Shop in Cedarburg, WI (which is about 1.75 hrs from where I live), had an exclusive contract for all agates from the Alianza concession (mining claim). This agreement had been in place for 20 years at the time. The below link contains more info and photos of the 2014 mining operation which the rock shed owner assisted with. It had been a very rainy season, which hindered mining efforts. I find it hard to believe that a small rock shop in Cedarburg would have exclusive rights to spectacular pieces like this from Mexico, but they are currently offering Alianza nodules by the pound on their web sight. thegemshop.com/pages/laguna-agate-operation-2014

Very cool. Driving restrictions prevent me from going there, but working on getting my neighbor friend to go there with me. I want to go there as everything they have seems amazing. Added bonus is location with many other places of interest nearby, plus a friend of mine.

Added bonus is location with many other places of interest nearby, plus a friend of mine. Your mean that's a very long ride for me. Did you see that giant piece of pet wood in the front yard. They also welcome people to come visit and pick through there bins in the cellar. That's worth the ride alone, how many years has some of those bins been setting there forgotten about. I am taking about old school stock very nice hard to find stuff. Something else you might like if not sold out that is where I got the coral. I added more pics on coral page. When or if you check the coral the heavier pieces are more on the full agate side. The hollow ones may have goodies besides the botroidal formation. I have not checked them for flourescene yet but will when I get batteries. I separated the holy ones from solid when I tumbled them they are hard on the vibe dish so you know. You could smooth the rougher pieces with your dremel then toss in tumbler they need baby setting so not grind away to much. Please go and take lots of pictures of what they have in cellar

This is from harbor freight the block was around 11.00 the extra hones were about the same in price. However, they are coarser.

Long drive, as it would take me almost 4 hours to get there with the mandatory stop and walk around breaks I must take. I hope to convince someone to take me this upcoming year. For now it is on my bucket list of places to visit.
