Did you learn the knife scales at WH? Is there a good site to buy a good locking blade? I want to do this this year- at some point. I owe DH a nice knife. The last one I got him he lost. I got him a replacement, but it's not as nice. I don't think he likes it as much. Tella I use Premium Knife Supply. My instructor Chuck who’s taught me inlay also taught us knife handles. He put us in touch with the place. Their knives are great quality (I know because my avid hunter son tested his knew one yesterday and couldn’t thank me enough)! I get a pretty big discount because of taking Chucks class but they have a deal of the day everyday that will blow you away. If you don’t mind an email daily. I’m working on kitchen knives as well that I bought from them. HANDLES ARE A PAIN IN THE ASS!! Sorry Tommy and 1dave but they are. They are wholesalers too so with your tax ID you will probably get my discount. Hope that helps Thanks, Mel. I'll check them out. I found a few pages of info online on how to do it. I'll keep looking. Your set not only looks nice, but ambitious, too. Kudos!

Thanks guys! The ring has some “rustic” spots but I’m getting used to the Smith’s Little Torch. Man does that thing have some major torch power 😂 I’ve also worked on inlay so much in the last year I’m having to relearn the tradition bezel setting. Had fun though! Mel, I've never used the Smith's Little Torch, but for something as small as a ring, you could use a mini-butane torch. Works well.

As far as the pocket knife I’ve tried several different ways of the actual grinding polishing. Give me a bit an I’ll message you with some tips.

Very nice Mel! I would love to create scales for my vintage Buck knife that was given to me on my 16th birthday but I'm scared to death to try it haha. Maybe I will commission you to make them for me Awww how sweet! If you can cab you can do it though. Be very patient and make a template of your handles. This is a template I made: After making template and cutting out your handle you can persay cab them or you can 2 part epoxy them on to your knife. Open blade and put cardboard in the hole where the blade sits if it’s a folding knife so epoxy won’t run into it. When I epoxy I do one side at a time. It takes longer but you have to take care to position it right and clean up excess right away after clamping it. Then do next side. Then I wrap EVERYTHING THATS METAL with a strong electrical tape so the grinding wheel won’t skin the metal. I used painters tape and ruined the pretty silver side of a top of one. I couldn’t get it back right so now it’s in the “Learn to Electro Etch Pile”. This is the pocket knife I carry. Hope this helps guys rockjunquie this is what I was going to pm you 😂

Can't decide if what's cooler, the steel or the stone. Incredible combo!

Can't decide if what's cooler, the steel or the stone. Incredible combo! The pocket knives are good sellers and enough space to get creative. My knife suppliers have awesome quality products.

Great work, Mel melhill1659. I've always liked Damascus blades...just never have gone out and gotten one for myself. It would probably be a safe queen.
