Looks good! I like how you used silver sheet in between wires on the perimeter. Never seen that treatment before. Lynn

I'm with Lynn zarguy. I like the perimeter work as well - of course, I like all of it though.

Another big stone with challenges. I like how it came out, though. She bought this as denim lapis, but I think it is just a low grade lapis. Very nice work, as always. Question about your definition of Denim Lapis. My experience has been that it IS low-grade lapis, like this image. Or is it a specific color resembling blue denim? The name game in this field is a constant challenge.

Hers is more blue like lapis and has pyrite, but just seems to be lower quality. But, maybe I'm wrong.

IIRC, some people were angry because they thought it fooled people by offering low-grade Afghan material using a fancy new name. I Googled it and the images show stones that resemble blue denim. I'm beginning to think it's one of those names used by Humpty-Dumpty who said they meant exactly what he thought they should mean.

To make matters worse, I have seen dumortierite being called denim lapis. (Along with desert lapis.)

I have to ask 'cuz I can't figure it out. How in the world do you fasten the pattern wire at the top?

I really like how it turned out too! That wide band of silver worked out well on this piece.
Interesting discussion about denim lapis. I bought a 50# chunk of it at Q a few years back because it was cheap. The Afghans in the tent didn't call it "denim lapis", but that is what it looks like to me - lapis with a lot of white quartz in it. Their top grade lapis was uber expensive so I went for quantity.

I have to ask 'cuz I can't figure it out. How in the world do you fasten the pattern wire at the top? I am assuming you mean the wire with the spiral? It is locked into the sides. It ain't going anywhere. It is hammered and 18g, as well.
