Did you see any sign's about the potential closure? Hopefully just a bad rumor.

Looks like you got some nice material. Yes. Found a lot of nice agate, including some large purple agates and a couple of really nice blues including one dark blue, obsidian chunks, lizard stone, pastelite, some unakite, schorl in quartz, lizard stone, a fulgurite, etc. I will take some individual pics and post them when I get time.

That pic of Jax is frame-able, the rocks not so much...kidding about the rocks. Looks like a productive trip. How long were you there to collect that amount. Where is Burro Creek? I have cut and acquired a few pieces and especially like the Pastelite. Looking forward to seeing the close ups.

Nice trip James! Can't wait to see what all those nice rocks yield. I agree about that picture of Jax - very nice composition against the bridge.

Chris and I went to the Las Vegas rock club meeting the week before the trip (as we were stuck in town and a friend we were staying with is a member so we went to check it out). Sounded like a fun trip to go on but we had our local show on the same weekend. You guys sure plan some good trips.

vegasjames - Nice haul! Our local club went there from Feb 28 - Mar 3. We took the Burro Creek Crossing road to where it crosses Burro Creek, but there was too much water to cross. Were you able to cross that? We found some botryiodal chalcedony on Signal Rd, which is the name of Burro Creek Crossing Rd on the West side of Hwy 93. When broken open, some had purple interiors. I can't wait to see tour closeup pix. Lynn

Nice, James. Did you have to lug that up from the creek bed? If so, ouch.

Great find and really lovely doggie! (Each image like this makes me slightly envious... You people are so lucky to live in an area with such rich array of stones.)

I have cut and acquired a few pieces and especially like the Pastelite. Looking forward to seeing the close ups. We were there for 2 days.
Some club members were down there for about 5 days. We went down to meet them. Left Vegas at 4:30 in the morning and by the time we got there I figured I still had a couple of hours before everyone got up, ate breakfast an got ready to leave. So we went exploring close to the campground. Walking back to the truck I saw the caravan of club members driving by and I had no idea where they were going. So I guessed, and guessed wrong but ended up hitting a great spot full of purple agate, banded agate, pastelite, etc. Some other club members that came in late found me later but went collecting elsewhere. I later joined them then on the way back we explored another area I spotted along the hiway that looked promising. Mainly a lot of obsidian there with some big chunks. From what I heard the rest of the club members did not find much where they went.
The next day we went for crystals but got stopped by the river so went back for the lizard stone instead.
Found a few things along the river including some beautiful blue chalcedonies, obsidian and unakite.
I did not know they planned to be there one more day so I only planned to be there the two days and so went ahead and came home the second night.

Nice, James. Did you have to lug that up from the creek bed? If so, ouch. I did not collect much from the river bed. Where I was I just made piles and filled a few bags then hiked back and forth to the truck filling more bags from my piles then dumping them in a bin in the truck. I have a large backpack that I also used so that made it a lot easier. Probably only made around 10 trips back and forth to the truck but I was having a lot of fun and enjoying nature so I did not mind.
Had to pick up a lot of trash out there though. I really wish if people go out in to nature they would respect it and haul their trash back out instead of tossing it out there.
