Hi All, I have finally done it! Lots of nice shiny stones, what I wanted to do is post some photos of them so you knowledgable people can tell me what kind of rock they are made of. I would be thankful for any help. Happy Tumblin' Bob. Here is a pic of my stripy stones, I hope!! and a pic of my spotty stones #nosmileys#nosmileys#nosmileys I would like to thank everybody who helped me especially with the pics, I think I have it sussed now, my second lot of pebbles are in the 220 at this moment in time. Incidently can anyone say what the stripy stone is? I thought banded Agate maybe? Happy Tumblin' Bob UK #nosmileys#nosmileys#nosmileys#nosmileys

I use Photobucket.com as a server to hold my pictures, and then when I have uploaded to their site what I would like to post, I just drag the bottom of the 3 URL's into the 'Post Message' box here at the forum. This means you do have to keep both windows open, but it is not too difficult and Photobucket.com will give to free space with some limitations if you do not want to upgrade. Good Luck.

the stiped ones don't look translucent enough to be agates to me but they are gorgeous whatever they are. my favorite is the one that looks like tiny pebbles in a white matrix - what does that one feel like? i hate it when i want to pick them up and feel and can't lol. are these local rocks? very nice and interesting rocks!

Those are some very interesting stones (nicely polished too!). If I can be so bold, where did you get them? I'm not sure about the stripy ones either, but awile back Banjocreek posted some pics of zebra jasper that looked to be in the same ballpark as your stones, so maybe some kind of jasper? (Banjo's pics are now on page 4 of the members photos board -- I'd give a link, but I don't know how to do that What are the spotted ones? Those are very cool also, and not anything I remember seeing previously.

The result is huge waves build up during a storm and the beach really gets a smashing, there is no sand just lots of different pebbles, which is good for me! The pebble you like is absolutely smooth and shiny I know it looks as if it is full of holes but it is not.

Thank you for the kind comments, the pebbles all came from a local beach which is about 25miles from my home, as to what kind of stone I do not know, I was hoping somebody would recognise the stones and enlighten me, I shall go and have a look at page 4. All the best, Bob

I don't know what they are but they are beutiful some of those striped ones would look great wrapped. I also use photobucket.com for the pictures I post. I had a free website that I could download pictures to, but they didn't always show up, it was a hit or miss. With photobucket my pictures turn out very well every time. Tami

Very nice Bob !!! Isn't it nice to have actually finished a load ! My first lot finished this morning and I've taken some pictures, I'll post them later, when my technical support man (hubby) gets home and shows me how Gorgeous stones Rose! had a look at them earlier, I still have not got the hang of posting messages, they seem to turn up in the most unusual places! Yes it is nice to finally get a batch finished, but it certainly tries your patience, on the first tumble 80 grit I was peeking at it at least twice a day now it rumbles in the backround and I take no notice. Got my next lot tumbling now, its rough broken up rock from the beach, do you buy your rock or collect it? Got to go now my son has arrived. Happy Tumblin' Bob

Tami Hi Tami, pardon my ignorance but what is wrapped? I think I have got the hang of posting photos now, my first attempt was a disaster! the pictures were laid out side by side, I would have needed a screen about 4foot wide to see them! I deleted them and tried again, sucess. What kind of rock do you tumble? You have a huge choice in the US. best places here are Cornwall or Scotland. Anyway Happy Tumblin' Bob UK

Thanks I have bought rock so far - but I have collected a load of pretty things from a beach in North Wales, I think I will try it in my next load after my soft rock (which is scaring me, I have visions of opening the barrel after a week and finding a load of sand lol)
