Holley Blue agate rough came from the pile in the background, just a thin wafer.

Very nice. I don't find much purple or pink out around here on the prairie- darn shame, I'm seeing some great cabs this month!

I'm in with purple. This is a sugilite rough I've been putting off cutting but the time is now. I forgot to weigh the rough but the finished stone is 19.4 ct. and measures 25 x 17.5 x 5.5 mm. thick. This stuff is very hard to polish but I think I did pretty well with it. I had a bit of trouble photographing the color accurately. The image of the stone on the white background is closest to how it appears in hand. The lines in the images aren't apparent in normal viewing. The bottom is fully polished. Great polish on that. My sugilite gets orange-peel texture at the final polishing stages. any tips?

My "secret sauce" is Holy Cow! polish on an old Tech 10 pad -- the kind they made before they starting adding 14K diamond. The problem is Holy Cow! isn't made any longer. I'd share but I'm hoarding my last half-ounce of the stuff for future Sugilite polishing. Maybe someone here knows what's in it and can offer a home-brew recipe for you.

Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I decided to go bold and enter my Sugilite cab. I gave this to a friend who is incorporating it into a necklace. If you rotate the cab clockwise you can match up the "yellow tooth" on the upper part of the slab.

Here's my submisson for this month's contest. Purple Salvia Chalcedony. I had a small nodule which I got a few 1 cab slabettes from. Here's the slab I chose to use: IMG_20190426_194240706I thought I had a picture of the preform but I guess not. My daughters suggested I use the lines and make a leaf shape. I loved the idea and wouldn't have thought of it myself. Here's my finished cab: IMG_20190427_195200511 Many awesome cabs submitted this month. Good luck everyone!
