Wow! Great work. A lot of cool stuff. It's hard to pick faves. There are the usual awesomeness suspects -- Montana, Hornitos and Owyhee.... The K2 with azurite is amazing, though. Quick question: I've worked with rainforest jasper, which I know is technically rhyolite with miniature thundereggs included. I've always had pretty uniformly hard material. Is "rainforest rhyolite" just you using the correct term, or is it yet another trade name?
OK. Second question. What wrong with the Teepee? It looks intact.
Btw. That number of cabs is just showing off. I was happy that I got 4 done today.

Btw. That number of cabs is just showing off. I was happy that I got 4 done today. I was just calling it by the right name. That preform was cut close to the edge, so it got some softness in it. The tee pee is really cracked. It's not too obvious, because the crack goes across the top thru the middle. Some of them were ones from the day before, I think. I get abt 7-10 a day. I cab from about 10-2:30. I get more or less done according to how much trouble I am having and if my daughter spends an hour and half here on her lunch break. (sigh) I have a couple new wheels, so I have been cabbing pretty fast lately.

I use all diamond wheels and lots if pressure up to the 100k wheel. Never had a problem. Hmmm... maybe it's just the material I've had. I took my latest big cab up through 50k like usual and the shine was just crap - very patchy - so I hit it with AO polish and it made it worse. I had to go back and forth between 3000 and 50k just to get it back looking like I had it the first time through. This seems to be normal for me with Hornitos jasper. Edited to add:

Most of the Hornitos I've worked with came from two very large old stock slabs. One with the large orbs, one with the small. It behaved beautifully -- better than most Morgan Hill. Guess I got lucky, because I had zero trouble with that.

I can't afford to change them in the foreseeable future, so maybe I should stick to softer materials and jade for a while.

Edited to add: I know I have seen Sabre52 discuss all the different varieties. I obviously have a different one than you. Mine is definitely Hornitos, though. I had a big slab and have done quite a few that ere ezpz. Your cab is gorgeous and the shine looks good from here.

One thing that REALLY slows me down is a worn 80. My 80 is new and really aggressive. I use a 220 soft instead of a 280. It really helps with speed.
