Right, the suggestion was to keep the rock cooled, not necessarily for dust. I need a dust collection system for my house.....

Gotcha, heat has never been an issue as I can run the grinder from anywhere between 900 to 3600 RPM's. That along with dipping in water to see the lines more clearly and we are good to go. Definitely not on par with a real cab machine, but not a bad setup for what I already had in my shop. Al

I didn't even know what a cabochon was until after I got my Lortone Lu6X. I was looking for something safe to work on rocks before I tumbled them. I have learned SO MUCH in less than a year. The 6x was a great beginning but after I switched it over to an expandable and diamond papers I knew I was hooked on cabbing. I got the CabKing 6 which is fabulous. I killed a couple wheels with my inexperience and replaced them with Nova which are far superior to the CK stock wheels. I'd say it was worth the money for both machines because I didn't know how much I would love doing it. I wouldn't have spent the cost of the CK before knowing it was something I'd take to. You're going to love the diamond wheels, keep them cool.

We got A.J. a tumbler because he has always liked rocks and thought it would just be a nice little activity he could do occasionally. Oh how naive I was . Al

Sounds like you've got the disease- and it also sounds like it's genetic. Welcome to the asylum.
