Hello everyone,
My wife often tells me that if it was not rock related ... it would never get done . I don't know if it holds true or not ... what do you think?
The garage has been full of ceramics for the past six years and it has taken us the past three weeks to empty it !
Today ... this is what I got accomplished! I totally cleaned this area out , swept and vacumed the floor , built some benches and got most of my lapidary equipment installed, wired and rolling .
So what do you think ... did I jump the gun? It surely didn't have anything to do with my rocks ... did it?
My wife got home and she seen what I had got done and she just shook her head and said "see .. I told you ... if it has to do with your rocks ... it gets done immediately ... and to h_ll with everything else! God forbid the house ever catch fire, as it would burn to the ground ... because you would be getting your equipment and rocks out of the house." I did tell her that she was next on the list ;D (just kidding - after being married for 24 years we can joke like that!).
Here are some photo's:
This is the west wall of my "new" shop ;D. Basically it has my hand tools and extra lapidary blades. I have a 12" Highland Park saw that will go along this wall, so it wont be so open!
This is the east wall, it is basically storage for right now. It will be full of rocks when we get a place for what is currently on the shelves! I got a dart board for Christmas, Robin and I just had to try it out. I don't know what happened ... we both have never played darts before ... but, Robin's beginners luck was better than mine! She beat me 3 out of 4 games! Looks like I am going to have to practice ;D.
This is the north wall ... a.k.a. ... the tumbling wall! I will end up tweeking this a bit ... but, it's pretty close to being where I want it to be!
This is the south wall, it currently has my 6" Lortone saw and my 10" Star Diamond saw on it. I put some 400 pounds of agates on this bench after the photos were taken. They are all boxed up and made good use of the extra room that was available!
This is a better shot of my 10" and a portion of my 6" ... I know ... I know ... clean them saws ;D
This is my work horse ... a 14" Star Diamond slab saw! Since I have had this saw (approximately two years now), I have cut close to 900 pounds of rough! With just over 500 pounds of rough on the blade that is currently on the machine
Well ... what do you think? Did I do okay for a days worth of work? I guess I am having a hard time trying to figure my wife out . She has wanted me to put a new screen door on the front of the house for over a year now ! We purchased it over a year ago ... and it's still in the garage, just waiting to be put on. Maybe there is some truth to her words? I don't think so ... I think she just likes to jab me about my ROCKS ;D
Life is good
Oh, what's in the tumbler? A mix of Laguna Agates, Botswana Agates and a host of other goodies! I just went into 400 grit yesterday ... so, I'll have new photo's coming soon!
