Hi Gang, As some of you may now I like to "tinker" with gadgets of all sorts and uses. I make some of my gadgets just for the fun and enjoyment of doing it and some out of necessity. Well I have very bad shoulders and also get muscle cramps in my forearms while trying to hold my Thumler's Model B"s and other large tumblers while draining off the slurry. I also have a very hard time pulling the liners out of the barrels. About a month ago I had a couple of ideas on how to remedy these problems. After "polishing" up the ideas I came up with the following gadgets made totally out of "stuff" I had at home. I also made a simple "barrel holder" for the Lot-O-Tumbler. I "hope" this link will take you to a slide show of the gadgets. imageevent.com/tcknkk/tumblergadgets;jsessionid=u8yc5nsrz1.buffalo_s?p=0&n=1&m=24&c=4&w=1&b=0&s=0&z=2&l=10Thanks for looking. Tom

Tom .Thats Quite the operation ! I think you should patent it . You want to come to Montana a help me re work my saw ? You did a nice job figuring that all out and building it . Do you save your grit and reuse some of it? I have never tryed to myself . Glenn ;D ;D

Very cool ideas. I don't have barrels that big but that's a neat idea to leave it drain like that.

WOW! Those are amazing - I was wondering how come someone would have trouble lifting up those barrels, but then I saw that your bbl is larger than that coffee can and I fully understand! those are amazing helpers - you and stoner should get together for the building & emptying of homemade tumblers... ;D

i never knew how the Thumbler tumblers operated, now i do.
thanks for taking the time to put that info together,

Hey Tom, Now, that is what I call thinking Excellent set up and very user friendly ... I would suggest that you contact a patent assistant servive (ISC is one). This way you can submit your idea, without actually going through the entire patent process (unless you want to - it's pricey ... been there ... roughly $15,000 is a good low end figure). Once submitted, your idea is held on file ... then should anyone else submit a similar patent ... yours will be the first on file and you might possibly be monetarily compensated if the other party wishes to continue with their patent. You never know ... Thanks for sharing, John

Holy Cow Gang!!I never expected a responce like this!!
I'll try to respond to all of you but if my computer runs out of ink,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Lets see,,,,Who's first??
Glenn I'd love to come out and help you with your saw and as a matter of fact I have a bunch of vacation time I don't know what to do with!!My wife lost her job back in June and just last month started a new one so she doesn't get vacation time till next year.
I tried reclaming my grit with what's called an elutriator (spelling?) but it takes a lot of water and time. The water part I can handle but my time is VERY precious so I gave it up.
An elutriator is just a fancy name for a simple "gadget". I made mine by building a set of shelves that look like stairs. It had 5 steps and each step held a 3 gallon plastic bucket which was tilted VERY slightly so it could spill into the next lower bucket and so on.I put a garden hose without the nozzle in the top bucket and ran the water VERY slowly.I dumped my slurry into the top bucket and let the water run until it was as clear in all 5 buckets.
The coarse grit settles in the top bucket and the second bucket has finer grit and so on right down to the 5 th bucket which has VERY fine grit in it somewhere I would guess between #600 to #1000???
It just didn't seem worth the time and effort to me.
Oh yea,,,,,You didn't screw up my posting.LOL
WOW,,,I better stop being so long winded or this thing will run out of ink for sure! LOL And,,,,I'll be up till midnight!
Cher,,,
You can't believe how heavy the bigger barrels get for me trying to hold them long enough to completely drain out!! No more sore arms and shoulders for me!!
John,,
Thanks,,,,I love doing it!!
Gaetz,,,,
Enjoy your daughter now,,,,When she gets a little older that's when the REAL fun starts!!
Blue T,,,
Thank you very much.I very seldom get complimented on anything I do so it's really appreciated!!
The barrels are large and heavy (for me).
I can hear the other Modle B owners calling me a big sissy!! LOL
Rose,,
Thanks,,,,I have another just like it and a bigger one as well. Also a double 6 pounder,a 4 pounder,a tripple 1-1/2 pounder and 2 4lb vibe units.I'm just one tumblin' fool!! LOL
Tami,,,
I've had several ideas for improving the Thumler's and Lortone tumblers.
I tried to GIVE both companies my ideas and they weren't interested!
Way back in my old memory banks sits a picture of "Tumbler Tom's" line of tumblers.
Stefan,,,,
You're a HOOT!!
Good to the last drop !! LOL
KD,,,
I do drink more coffee then I should but only until about 5-6 pm.If I drink after that I wear a path to the potty alllllll night!!
I never tried to put a slide show like this together before and was a little nervous posting the link!!
The part I'm not all the "Krazy" about is taking all the pics (52),editing them, uploading them to Image event and then praying it's not all for naught!! It's my pleasure!!
John (Bear),,,
Thanks.
There is actually a little more to the "work station" then it may seem. If I were to patent it no one would want to pay what it really costs.I made this one completely out of what I had here.
If you look real close you'll see holes in the aluminum angle iron that were there from a previously failed project. The bolts and screws are all different sizes and so on.But it does work!!
One of my "pet projects" is an idea I have to carve, drill, grind, etc. with diamond tools without using water.I've been working at it for several years and if I DO figure it out I WILL get a patent for it.
Thank you everyone,,,,
You made all my work worth the time and effort!!
Tom ;D ;D ;D

Hey Condor- Pretty cool gadgets. Thanks for sharing!!!!! I thought you were camping? Gaeter Thanks for the compliment. I have been out camping. Just got back a little while ago. Wish I could take credit for that, but I can barely sharpen a pencil, much less make something as excellent as Connrock. Condor

Why thanks Kim,,,, The slide show was my pleasure. Stubby,, I'm not in the metal fab field but can make just about anything out of metal. On the other hand,,,,,, If you give me a few pieces of wood and some nails I can destroy the world with it in a heart beat!! LOLI don't know what it is about me and wood but I try to stay away from it. Condor,, It's not all that hard.It starts with a vision that sometimes gets put down on paper first and refined. Many times it's just "refine" it as I go along. Thanks Gang,,,,,I appreciate it very much!! Tom
