Ok, here goes nothing. I wrapped this heart and thought I'd open up to some critiques and advice. It's my fourth time wrapping anything, and boy is it a lot harder than I thought it would be. I'm not super pleased with it but I think it's a bit of an improvement over some of the other wraps paperweights that I did. I may need to follow what NevadaBill did and take a class, or at least a warm body to give me some tips! Thanks for looking.

I like the way you think, my friend. One wire would probably be better- this was sort of a practice heart, I have the obsidian one that I made almost done polishing and I may just take your advice on that one. The wires in front were together but I spread them apart because the stone was a little loose. Wouldn't it be great if practice hearts were real?

What I meant was one pair or band of wires Hearts are tough and challenging I enjoyed the process
And all my hearts were practice ha the hobby and grinding for me was just one joyful frantic process of just keeping myself Creatively busy
It was inexpensive and didn’t require to much space. All in short in supply I think we share that creative activity
Your rock hounding is solid That one aspect of the hobby I didn’t really emphasis But I got much more observant from the hobby & if I had the legs for it I think I would have made a fairly good one.
Anyway your doing some really good creative work Lotta future for ya in rock Keep on
Wish you lived closer We would make a great team Or you could inherit my equipment...

I couldn't have said it better myself, my friend- and I appreciate your compliments. Honestly. I've never considered myself to be creative but you're exactly on the spot with what you said about the joyful, frantic process and all of the rest. I think you're right, we would make a great team!

I appreciate it- and who knows, I may just take it apart and put a finding on the top in the style of mohs 's avatar. I'm having fun wrapping but I sure do need more practice. I figured what's the point of cabbing if I don't wrap?

Mike, hearts are hard to do, so kudos to you for trying it! I think it turned out pretty damn good. Wire wrapping is like anything else- practice, practice, practice. The more you do, the better you'll get. Keep up the good work.

Agreed, hearts are very difficult to wrap. I have admittedly never attempted one, because I know it would be a pain in the patoot and life's too short.
You have more fortitude than I do and congrats on giving it a go! I think you did real good.

That looks good. I tried wrapping some hearts. Have not gone back to them lately. I just add a wire wrapped bail to the top.

Thank you, Robin. All wrapping for me is a pain in the patoot so I figured I'd give it a shot. And honestly it wasn't any harder than the other ones that I've tried. Not sure if it's fortitude or stubbornness, but thanks again!

That one looks really cool, Mike! The rock is better than anything that I've got. And the style is different and not boring like some others Some times it is difficult to see your own style, but it is unique.
The wire looks like a hard wire, or possibly half-hard at best which makes all of those twists really difficult. You could try using dead-soft wire. I've seen a video where someone doesn't even use pliers to twist up an exotic pendant.
You mentioned another one, maybe you could post that one too when you have time.

Thanks, Bill. The stone was one that I found and made with the dremel, then tumbled in the rotary. I clipped the wires and decided to redo it, I didn't like that it was hiding what I thought made the heart unique. The streaks running through it, the "impure" brown against the white. I actually used dead-soft square wire, I'm finding it a little easier for me to learn with than the half-round. And my wraps are so far behind what I see on here- yours included- that I really don't want to post the first three that I did. l keep them for reminders, however, kind of to see if I am making progress.

Fourth and a half try. Before I followed a video- this one was all me, please let me know what you think. I like the wrap better, but I may redo the bail. It's kind of sloppy. The whole thing took me maybe 20 minutes... Thanks for looking.

Much better! You used the 1/2 round for what it's suppose to be used for (bindings) and they are nice and neat. You can really see the stone much better and I think your bail is way neater than the first one.
