(Heading for the tape drawer...) That will be a good move for you. I've done the same on my QT-66. I can't take credit for the fix...I read it somewhere here, and it's worked out very well. No wear from the stud on the center of the lid gasket whatsoever.

Greetings [lancemountain] I ordered my Lortone QT66 direct from The Rock Shed with a 230v 50hz motor, it was the same price as the 110v 60hz USA model about $50 under Lortone's Retail Recommended Price, although postage was around $60 to Scotland, but delivered within a week, it could have been 3 days, but our Royal Mail thought it would be an excellemt idea to send me a ransome demand for about $50 by snail mail from Edinburgh to Bonnybridge about 45 miles taking an additional 4 days, my email address and phone number were on the contact details on the outside of the package!
F80 Silicon Carbide grit [1.5lb] 40g (1.411oz), [3lb] 60g (2.116oz), [6lb] 120g (4.232oz), [12lb] 240g (8.465oz) Max load [6lb] 240g (8.465oz), [12lb] 480g (1.05lb) the other grit amounts can be found in my Rock Tumbling Guide! in my signature below!

Just another voice - I use 2/3 cup of 46/70 in lortone 6lb barrels. When rolling agates and jaspers, with a bit of potter's clay (which I get free) grit is fully exhausted in 5 days.
