I would like to do something similar. Unfortunately my rocks don't have any character!
That fossil in the middle is like a dream rock for me. I think I need to move to Northern Nebraska.
Bill, for the Turritella Agate (Misnamed, see below), you don't need to go to Nebraska. What most people know of as "Turitella Agate" is found in the Green River Formation in Wyoming (also Colorado and Utah). It was a freshwater gastropod. These are sold for tumbling at places like TRS. Call them Goniosoma (now not even called that anymore), most people won't have a clue what you are talking about.
The real turritella snails (that the other was erroneously thought to be) lived in saltwater. Their fossils may be found in California and Texas. I have found them in the Southern California desert, so those must be the real turritella, which lived in, died and were fossilized in a salt water sea. Supposedly, the opening (operculum) of the true turritellas was more round.
Turritella Agate—The Name Is False!
Turritella agate is found in Sweetwater County, Wyoming and around Superior and Wamsutter, Wyoming too.
It is possible that the misnamed Turritella is the best-known fossil from the Green River Formation.
The fossilized snails are real, but they keep changing the name. Until recently, they were known as Goniobasis genera, now being called Elimia tenera.
Some reading material that can probably make the point much clearer than I can present it.

I know, a lot to digest. Just email the links to your phone, and do some reading in your leisure. (The last one is a four page PDF download.) I present this information here only for your elucidation and education. Understandable why it is so confusing.
Or you can simply keep calling all fossilized snails turritella. At least people will know what you are talking about.
