Small, misshapen, high domed, curved back. This one presented some challenges. And now the bad part. I took a picture outside and put it in my pocket as usual. Or so I thought. It's gone. Nowhere to be found. I searched for at least a half an hour. Checked my pockets, the floor, the deck, everywhere. I am a bit ashamed to admit it, but I even looked through a bag of cat litter that I scooped after I took the pic thinking maybe when I bent over it fell in. I hate losing stuff and am super mad at myself. But the thing that really bothers me is that only a select number of people outside of RTH even know that I'm trying to learn how to wrap. I wanted to make a few presents for Christmas this year and I like to surprise people when I give gifts. And now that may be ruined. As always, I'm looking for tips, criticisms, etc. on the wrap...oh, and that's a dollar next to it to show size. Anyhow, here it is. Sorry for rambling!

Hope you find it. Good rock. Good wrap! No advice except to sew up that hole in your pocket. 😀

I'm sorry. But, I believe it will show up. I hate when that happens.
The wrap is another step of improvement on your journey. I like it and I like what you did with the bail wires. I understand the challenges you had and I think you did a good job handling them. Just abt every stone will present some type of issue.

So I'm not the only one that loses things? Just kidding, it probably will show up but I still can't stand losing things. Thanks Tela. Of course I wanted to showcase the Fairburn pattern and think I accomplished that pretty well. It may look like it could slip out of the bottom but it is actually very secure. And I'm learning about every stone having some type of issues. Most of my freeforms seem to be determined by how the rock cuts- or fractures when I try to cut or grind it. Since I've never used templates before, I'm wondering if that would be easier? Either way, I think I'll stick to freeforms for now. I let the rock tell me what shape it wants to be.

That's one cool little pendant! Your decorative treatment around the top, especially the relative sizes and tightness of the left/right curl pairs (which echo that 'misshapenness') give it a cohesive, attractive look.
You'll find it. On any given day or week or month or ... years, I have something that I misplaced. One was a finished opal missing for 1 year. I finally found it on a shelf where I had set down to grab something else. Another was a $50 camera fixture for 2 years, so I bought another and found the original about three months later. Currently, I have a parallel pliers that has been missing for nearly 4 years. It's in the house somewhere!

Thank you, sir! I appreciate the input. And that is the best way to find something- buy another one. Maybe it's time to get some new pliers. Then you'll have two pair.

Know anybody with a metal detector ? No, but it should be in the house...somewhere.

It's there somewhere, Mike. I just lost a preform that I cut out this afternoon and put it down, was thinking about something else, went to grab my setting that the stone is being cut for because I killed the original one, turned around and couldn't find it. Took me 1/2 hour and it was basically right in front of my face!
This wrap is your bestest yet! I really like the way you did the bail on it.

Looks great, I really like it! I empathize with you on the loss. The first silversmith item I made, a little ring in a stone setting workshop, went missing the very next day. I didn't love it, which I think was part of the problem because I didn't fawn over it that night (which would have helped me remember the last time I saw it) and I wasn't upset about the ring so much, but I did like the stone that was in there and would have liked to pull it for something else. That's been about 5 months ago and it hasn't materialized yet, but I'm hoping you have better luck Keep up the great work!

Looking great, hope you find it. I totally understand about losing things like that. This past week I even lost my walking stick that I made about 10 years ago while I was rockhounding near Payson, AZ. I retraced my steps but to no avail. Oh well maybe someone else needed it more but danged if it wasn't the perfect size and weight for me plus it saved me a couple times from falls down steep hillsides while out rockhounding. OOps, went on a tangent, my bad, just hate losing things too.

Maybe we should start a group! 😁

So, funny story. I went to make some mashed potatoes for dinner last night and went to get one of the pots out and heard a rattling noise. So I pulled out the other pots and there it was. The pendant I lost. It must have fallen out of my pocket when I was putting dishes away.
