Fire in Mexico south of Tecate yesterday (Tuesday)
Did not realize it at the time, but the fire had actually started Monday afternoon. The Santa Ana winds from the east blew the smoke to the west, where it then circled around to the north and blanketed the entire county.
Sorry so dark, cell phone photo. This photo taken early afternoon, but between the cloud coverage and the smoke, it looks a lot later. I haven't heard f the fire is out yet or not, but can't see the billowing smoke this morning.
ETA - I was mistaken. The fire is still burning, and the smoke here is worse than it was yesterday. They really have limited resources for fighting fires in Mexico.

They grow up too soon but there's always a pup in there to put a smile on your face.

Who doesn't like biscuits and gravy? Looks like he's eating high of the hog with china from the Dollar Tree Collection.

"Wings" of spent flowers on cactus.
Made me think of this.
Both photos highly cropped to show detail. "Birds" are 10+ feet in the air.
ETA - Uncropped photo from cell phone to give you the big picture.

I live where the air hurts my face.... but we don’t have giant thistles so there is that to be thankful for.

I live where the air does not hurt my face. But right now, my feet are cold, and I'm in the house! Thermometer says it is 67 degrees inside, lol. Definitely spoiled.
BTW, a cactus is a cactus, not a thistle. That's a different animal entirely. Well, actually a different plant entirely.

Last night my daughter's boyfriend brought over a box of rocks and fossils that his grandfather gave him. He said that his grandfather taught geology, some of the material had numbers, and I believe that he collected it all. I'm horrible at fossils and not much better at rocks, but there were some really nice baculite specimens in there and a few rocks I could ID. I told him if he's interested he should talk to his grandfather while he's still alive and learn what the stuff is. He wanted to give me an agate slab with really cool eyes in it to cab, but I told him no- I think he should keep it since it was his grandfather's. I'll get a better pic of it here in a bit. Oh, and his grandfather told him that he has a box of Fairburns somewhere that he collected. Be good, Mike, be good...
This isn't the best photo, but I wanted to share anyway!

Here's the agate slab. If anyone happens to know what it is and could let me know that would be great. Probably should put it in the ID section but I'm just following up on my previous post.

"A box of Fairburns somewhere?" Easter comes early around your parts, doesn't it?

Sometimes a box could be the size of a ring...other times it can be the size of a refrigerator! LOL If you get a chance to get some pics of that horde, you know I'm dying to see them! Pretty cool start to his collection...it sounds to me with his efforts lately, that he's trying to find some "common ground" with you!
