it was a tubby little stone, Doc, so i didn't need to use any spacers. won't business cards disintegrate after a while, especially if you get them wet?
yes, Kim, i was feeling pretty good about this one considering the almost failure with the other setting. i cooked it up so hot trying to solder the bezel onto the ring that i hosed the joint in the ring. so had to basically redo the ring and will try again next week.
i'd like to continue to take some classes, i just don't know what is available next. there is an amount of pecking order and prerequisites before you can move up, so we'll see what happens. i might just practice here at the house once i get all the tools, cuz it's REALLY ALL ABOUT THE ROCKS!
haha, thanks for your comments,
KD

Great job! How come it's pictured on the table and not on your finger? Would give us a good size reference

You for sure got it goin' girl! Great work! You seem to have a real talent for just about anything you put your hand to!
I would love to learn how to work with silver, but the closest place to take classes is in San Antonio. That's 100+ plus round trip into the BIG city. I don't want to learn bad enough to drive into the city once a week or more! I did talk to a silversmith friend of Dave's (the Mex Lace guy) and he said I was welcome to come spend time with him in his shop and he'd teach me what he could. Think I am going to take him up on that offer later in the summer!
