looks human to me!! or at least grass eating mammal.
i had a whole job stopped once because the Contractor found human remains when they started to dig the foundation for the building. thankfully it WASN'T a native american and just a plain ol' colonist dude and after they exhumed the remains (bones) they let us proceed with the construction.
apparently the graveyard proper had been moved many years ago for the original building, but it was common for families that couldn't afford to be buried on "hallowed" ground to "sneak" the dead members as close as they could, i.e. right outside the fence line. so when we went to put an addition on this old (circa 1930) school, boom, there was freaking uncle Charlie smiling that grateful dead grin.
so, it's a RADISH, ok, Cher?

what a neat find! I'd go and have it analyzed.
It's definately not a bear's tooth though. I can tell you that much

Definitely know it's not a sharks tooth. I have some of those also that I found when I was a kid, they are sharp.

Is it flat on the top and bottom, or rounded? I think I would seriously consider having an archaeologist of some kind look at it. The shape is just so well defined. Fascinating!

From where I sit, it does look like a claw. The top part looks like the socket that would fit a "finger" bone.

Banjo From all the skulls I've found as a kid, the canine tooth (eye tooth) always slipped out in the shape of a crescent. There's no widening at the base. Come to think of it, I can't say any of the teeth I've pulled out of skulls had a root that widened out like the one in the picture.
So...
Cher, either from a skull I never came across (reptile, prehistoric), or a nail (claw) like rocky had suggested.

If it is hard like a rock it might be a fossil, and it just might be a really cool looking rock, I don't know I can't get a good look at it with the picture so small. (My eyes are getting bad, will see eye doctor in July). Tami

*smile* Tami, your poor eyes did pretty good. Thanks for your help everyone, my little test was better than I thought it would be. What it actually is ... is a piece of Texas Flint (from Llana) that I carved up yesterday with my trusty dremel. My grandson wanted a big tooth for a pendant so I gave it a go. Figured if I could get past you guys, it would do ok for a pendant for him. I suppose it should have been sharper but didn't for two reasons. One ... I didn't want it breaking off in the tumblers. Two ... I didn't think he needed anything sharp hanging on his neck. Thanks for your help please don't shoot me. Cher
