Thanks Ed! The charoite almost caused me to throw the slab across the room in frustration. 3 preforms split while I was trimming them. Thanks for your comments. I’m loving the hearts you are making.

Beautiful pairs! Kudos on having the patience to cut those small earring stones. The Charoite may frustrated you, but you sure conquered them!

Those are great, John!
Good timing, too! They're the just the right motivation that I need to get going! I have to cut a pair of small agates for earrings for my wife's sister's husband to give to his wife for her early May birthday. Despite daily reminders I've been letting the job slide, but your excellent cab pairs have got the wheels turning now...

They look look most excellent, but those pink ones are killer. Thanks RocksInNJ. That’s some rhodonite from near Silverton and Ouray CO. I really want to get down there and collect some one of these days

I don't like making earrings, smithing or the stone work. I do though like what you polished up. You silver work is always off the chart I will watch patiently to see the finished product.

Looking good! The Charoite is killer. Here's a hint to prevent splitting. Some people doublet it with a very thin backing, usually black in my experience. The backing seems to prevent its tendency to split while cutting. The backing can easily be ground off if the stone is going into an open setting. If it's going to be bezeled just leave it for added strength.

Great group of cabs! And so many, too! I would NOT have the patience for that. The charoite are a testament to your skill. I have decided never to cut anymore without backing them first. Too expensive to gamble.
