Do you mean 14k gold filled wire? Yes, sorry, that's what I used. 14/20, fairly inexpensive. Mike, if you can get gold filled, then you should be able to get silver. You can get silver fill, too. I bet it works a whole easier than nickel. I only used nickel once and it was pretty hard. You need to keep in mind, too, that LOTS of people have allergies to nickel. Be sure you let prospective new owners know it's nickel.
Can I challenge you to use some sellable silver? I think you are there.

Can I challenge you to use some sellable silver? I think you are there. Really? I had no idea that there's allergies to nickel, but it makes sense. Seems like these days a lot more people are allergic to a lot more things. I'll keep it in mind, thank you. Yes, I'll accept the challenge. And I appreciate the vote of confidence, ma'am! 😁

If you're sensitive, then you are typically very sensitive.
Go for it! You can sell back scraps, so you aren't out too much if you mess up or change your mind about a piece. Silver prices have been going down, too.

miket Do you have any bailing pliers? Or, some small diameter dowels? The only thing left to really get down, as far as I can see, is your bails. You really do want the bails to hold a chain so that the pendant lies straight. If the bail sections (the bunny ears) are uneven, the pendant will hang uneven. Bailing pliers makes that job so much easier. My go to size is 5mm on one side and 3 on the other. You can also use a straight mandrel of any size you want. It's near impossible to get even bunny ears with a round nose pliers.

As far as I know I'm using them correctly- they aren't too difficult. 😀 The only thing I can figure is that maybe I'm pulling the bail wires when I'm doing some final adjustments on the rest of the wrap. Who knows.

Maybe you can try a bail with a mandrel and see if the trouble is with the pliers?

Mike, for the longest time I used a wood dowel for my bails. Just make sure you're holding the pendant straight vertically when you're making the bail. If it's crooked while you're doing that, your bail will be off.

It can't hurt to try, thanks !
