Got my new wire today- no nickel. 'Course I picked a Teepee to wrap, I think it turned out ok but I'm not crazy about the loops by the bail. Anyway, thanks for looking!

Agree about the loops on the bail. The rest is good.
How did you like using Sterling? Was it easier or more difficult than the nickel?

A tiny bit more difficult. The bindings were easier, though. It might be because I got half hard wire instead of dead soft. I might clip the loops off I need to look at it again...

Maybe you could coil them up more and arrange them in front of the bail? I can't really tell whether that will work or not from the picture.
The half-hard is definitely more difficult to work with. I usually use dead soft because by the time you're done wrapping, it's work hardened. You could always anneal the wire so it will be dead soft if you wanted to.

Agree about the loops. Gotta go. The rest is quite lovely!!
Save the sterling scraps. You could torch them for a few seconds and they will ball up. Always fun.

Yay! Your first silver wrap. When I first started using precious metal, it made me nervous which made me make mistakes until I got comfortable with it. Let's chalk those bail curls up to nerves. Clip them off and move on. The rest of the wrap looks fine. Your next one will be even better. FYI- It's pretty damn hard to get decent curls with half hard. Soft is much better for that.

Agree on losing the curls.
I think the wrap would be perfect without the curls. Just clip them off.
You did great with the hard. Soft is much easier to work with.

Mike, I’m excited for you! I think the square wire + 1/2 hard made it more difficult. Great job, and I love how you jump in with both feet Mike!

Here's the redo, I think it looks better but a little lopsided now.

The redo does look better. I also use dead soft wire. I have arthritis and half hard wire is impossible for me to work with anymore.

Sorry to hear that- I think next time I'll try dead soft again and see how that goes. That would be a good idea. It is a bummer having arthritis but at least I still have use of my hands. Old age ain't for sissies for sure...lol.
