Man, you stationed at Ft Irwin ? Get yourself down to the old Chapinite beds and get yourself a load of that material while you can. Us civilian types can't get on the base anymore to collect on weekends. Don

Welcome to the RTH Tom
I'm not on much lately, but wanted to say a quick hello as we are in the same town. I'm across the county from where you dock, more near Bay Pines.
Not sure what kinda rock interests you have, but there is a seller here in town that has a pretty good stock pile, goes by "FireofLife" on eBay and name is John. Maybe worth making a connection if you need rough...
Maybe we can hook up someday and I can show you more rocks than any sane human should have. I'm more into specimen collecting, but also have many tumblers, several rock grinding/polishing machines, a HP 24" saw and a couple thousand pounds of rough sitting around - just never seem to find (make) the time to play with it all.
So, welcome aboard and enjoy the ride!

Me & Mrs. BAZ, Copper Queen Mine, Bisbee, Arizona ![](http://lh6.ggpht.com/_q10Mz0lrs2g/S8soNdA9IZI/AAAAAAAABG4/1Ie3xVcbcl4/s800/353.JPG) At work last year. I put my camera on the top of a lid of an underground Propane tank. (one of many that I had to dig out) We got so much snow last year that it was common to have to dig through 5 feet of the stuff to find them! ![](http://lh3.ggpht.com/_q10Mz0lrs2g/S3S01vO80bI/AAAAAAAAA0M/P7VY9C0Wgrw/s800/100_5584.jpg)

Dumb question .... what does copper look like in a mine?
Is it in veins or pockets?
Rocks make me crazy .... never know how to look for them.

Good enough Jo! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) The copper in that mine were in big green pockets. Beautiful Malachite pockets. Our guide had worked the mine since the sixties and told us back then it was okay to take a specimen or two home a day. As long as they didn't over do it. He said that today his house in Bisbee has display pieces that rival those in the Smithsonian! In the forties, if you graduated high school is Bisbee, your diploma was on a copper sheet instead of paper! No joke, we saw one in the museum. Copper there was so prevalent that it was actually cheaper to make the diplomas out of copper than paper.

Well, I'm not in my pimpin outfit like ColtChainmail above me but here i am out prospecting last week. Too much snow to get the truck in this spot so we went for a bit of a hike to the creek. It was a gorgeous day out and the contrast of the warm sun and cool snow was very enjoyable. ![](http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l312/rollnburn/_DSC6415.jpg) Sampson

Hi All, As I am generaly the one one is always taking the pictures I very rarely have a picture taken of me ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Though I was able to find this one. It is me taking a picture of my Escalade after I finished detailing it. The car shined like a mirror and I am caught in the reflection. Will get a better picture to post when I get my equipment delivered and set up. ![](http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss337/unclestu2u/DSC_0093.jpg) This is me searching for swirls in the paint of my Porche under a spot light ![](http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss337/unclestu2u/DSC_0128.jpg) picture after swirls had been polished out ![](http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss337/unclestu2u/DSC_0125.jpg) ![](http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss337/unclestu2u/DSC_0144.jpg) 2009 Porche 911 Turbo Cabriolette ![](http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss337/unclestu2u/DSC_00242-1-1.jpg)

I always thought that copper was in short supply at that time. That was why they had steel pennies
