They're forceps used to pick up weights. Kinda funny looking but I get a little animated explaining the procedures used in mass comparisons.

Way cool Beef. Quite the honor. Is your lab always that clean or did you tidy up for the governor?

Here is me a few years back, taken for a wall Street Journal interview. They made a tiny misquote but just a little one.

Been with the laborers union local 44, Collinsville, Il for 4 years now. Did the apprenticeship and extra classes and got a construction management degree. Yes there are some badasses out of our hall. There are a few ultimate fighting guys that actually did do cage fighting. There are 60 year olds down there that could throw me over a fence.
I love hearing how union workers are lazy. Come and work with local 44. All we get is concrete and asphalt work. I am a member of one of the smallest locals around. It is a tight nitched family and working out my hall really is considered being a local laborer.
Its still pretty hardcore like the good old days. Our hall is an old miners shower house. Every other hall around is nice and new. This is the 100th year anniversary of local 44. Im one of the smallest dudes and have to keep up with these big monster type guys. Like I said all we get is heavy highway and interstate work and let me tell you it isnt easy. Just standing out on the baking road is a job in itself. Then add on hot asphalt and concrete trucks that dont stop coming. It definately has toughened me up quite a bit. I did residential concrete work for 8 years and thought I was the shit. Got a rude awaking when I joined the union. There isnt any 18 year old out of our hall. Its some tough work. There is only 3 members younger than me and I am 32.

Most of the unions i have been around are self policing. If you don't cut the mustard your parellels will get you gone.Iron workers, millwrights and electricians-hard workers. They needed to depend on each other for so many safety reasons. What do you mean little guys keeping up.Every litter of pups i have has a runt or two.And they are small usually for high energy reasons and dominate the group.

Hey Bill sorry I never replied to you. Yes it was an honor to give the Governor a tour of my labs. As far as housekeeping goes I try my best. I may have tidied up a little more than usual prior to her visit Hey Don, have you ever been mistaken for Leon Russell? Brad, the only one not looking at the camera distinguishes you from the rest of the crowd! I'll be spending a week in St Louis October 2014.. a ways off but maybe we could meet up? Scott that looks like Christa's bearded dragon Spike! She loves that thing more than, well dare I say, her bearded husband Beef ;D

The business agent is the one who took the photo. He didnt want to be in the shot so he took the pic. The reason I wasnt looking that way at that moment is because there was a guy in the back office that had me looking away. Also the guy taking the photo couldnt figure out the camera and was taking forever. The blonde lady was the one who brought the camera and he was having a hard time with it. I guess you cant teach an old labor dog new tricks. This was after the monthly meeting in January.

Brian, That image was taken in 2007 a year after I bought a second pet store. The economy turned and the WSJ interviewed me about small business and a stoopid obama tax credit.
I had my first dragons in 1988 and produced my first babies in 1992. Quit my job in 1997 because of dragon money. Been self-unemployed ever since. Between 1999 - 2010 we average about 6,000 draons a year! The store is still there, owned by my old biz partner.

I hate to see that situation.I read the article.Lay off because you are struggling and have to support them after? My business has been way down and flat for 3 years. My customers are struggling more than ever.I am reducing my inventory for next year-cause i'm smart.People are not spending money.People are unemployed. Our jobs all got moved to other countries, due to greed from management and labor. And the morons in govt are floundering like fish out of water. I can tell Scott is a smart dude w/good energy level and our system probably destroyed his business. I was thinking about doing a crime so i could get on the chain gang on the rio Grande and crack agate open all day and see if they would let me have a tumbler in my cell so all you hard working folks will support me w/3 meals,AC,heat, medical and watch TV 12 a day Just saying, our economy sucks-it is NOT good.
