Ed, if you're talking about the flash, no.

Not all opal is created equal. It appears that your piece is what is called "potch and color". Potch being the plain white opal. It is a lower grade opal that is usually what beginning opal cutters start with so they don't wreck expensive stuff while they're learning.

Opal needs to be oriented correctly when cutting to bring out the best flash and some opal is just not that bright.

I'm thinking you probably got the best out of that opal that you could and it will look awesome.

I was notified by my nephew 9months ago that he was getting married. So I requested their birthmonths. April/Ocotober.
