Next in-line for restoration is an extremely over built and HEAVY 24" home built slab saw. Got it on casters and a new hood made. Need to figure out direction on auto-feed and rewire the saw. Tim

Tim "Extremely over built and HEAVY" are the earmarks of many a homebuilt slab saw. You've got your work cut out for you! Good luck with the project.

It will never blow away so thats one thing not to worry about. The vice looks to be substantial and thats a good attribute. Show us more as you resurrect it. Fun and games.

That saw looks great, lots of potential. I'll take over built and heavy any day over light and flimsy, particularly in a stationary tool. I would say that some belt guards are in order though, I don't think that any part of your body would stop that motor.

What a monster. That should be able to handle some seriously large rocks. Please keep us updated on progress.

That beast looks like it could slab diamonds as big as cantaloupes.

I got the old HP Mohstly disassembled, luckily only a few minor surprises, broken bracket and stripped nut for the carriage, minor repairs. Off to sand blast this week for the large parts.

One of the most fun days in lapidary play for me was tearing apart and cleaning up an old HP saw (mine was the 14/16" model). If I recall correctly nearly everything took a 1/2" wrench and things came apart and re-assembled just as they were supposed to. Using locktite on pulley set screws is a good idea. Enjoy.

Wow! That would be an awesome project; gotta say I'm a bit envious. All I have is a greasy old Covington Can't wait to see the finished product.

Another one snuck its way into the queue. Picked this one up at an estate sale, an old Yanmar 4x4 diesel tractor, has not ran in years, got it fully functional, just a few minor issues with the four wheel drive in one of the front knuckles. I need to start getting these projects wrapped up before it gets HOT.
