Hello everybody. I've spent a few hours in my "cabbing cubicle" working on some leaf cabs. I haven't done anything on the cabbing machine for quite a few months, so I'm a little out of practice. The cab shapes are (1) gingko, (2) maple, (3) oak, and (4) another maple. They're all jasper except for the oak leaf which is cornflake carnelian. You can't tell it by looking at the photos, but all the cabs have a low dome. I have enjoyed looking at everybody else's work, so I thought I would throw something out there too. I hope you enjoy the photos.

Thanks P-5! I just used my Frantom trim saw and Foredom flexshaft. (And the Genie for making the domes.) I'd like to have a Gryphon band saw though. It would cut down on the time considerably.

Thank you for the nice comment! Finding the right stone and doing the edges is the time-consuming part. I would guess it takes me about 2 hours each to make. The dome was one of the easiest parts as long as I was careful not to knock off one of the lobes in the process. I will add a photo to the main post showing the cabs next to a ruler (since I don't know how to add a photo to this reply).

These are neat! I can't imagine how you made those leaf cuts. Not on a cabbing machine, but perhaps with a Dremel tool or other disc grinder. You got a real nice shine on them and this is a really creative effort!
